BOMBSHELL: French Counter-Terror Boss: ‘I Have Proof Who Killed Litvinenko – It Wasn’t Russia’
He says it was done by US and UK secret services and that he is going to go public with the evidence

by Rick Twisdale, Russia Insider:

Paul Barril

A former French official who has had senior roles in internal security and terror fighting has come forward with a remarkable statement: that he has documentary evidence proving that Alexander Litvinenko, the Russian spy who died from polonium poisoning, was killed by US and UK special services.

In a lengthy interview which is soon to be published, he goes further, saying that Litvinenko’s murder was a special sevices operation designed to defame Russia and Vladimir Putin, that the notorious Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky was involved, and was himself killed by MI6 when he became a liability. He even says he knows the code name of the operation: “Beluga”.

News of this broke on Sunday, March 27 in an article by William Dunkerley titled “Operation Beluga: A US-UK Plot to Discredit Putin and Destabilize the Russian Federation.” In it Dunkerley said:

Renowned French security expert Paul Barril has let loose a bombshell: the existence of Operation Beluga, a covert Western intelligence scheme intended to undermine Russia and its leaders.

Is that what’s behind much of the threatening rhetoric now going back and forth between the US and Russia?

Barril exposed Operation Beluga in a recent interview with Swiss businessman Pascal Najadi on the 2006 Alexander Litvinenko death case.
He was a reputed former spy who many believe was murdered with radioactive polonium on orders of Vladimir Putin.

Najadi says the interview drew out the converse revelation that Litvinenko was actually killed by “an Italian who administered the deadly polonium 210.” What’s more, he astonishingly says, the operation was carried out under the auspices of the US and UK.

In my books The Phony Litvinenko Murder and Litvinenko Murder Case Solved I’ve written about an Italian connection. But I can’t confirm that Barril is talking about the same person.

Barril’s allegations should be taken seriously. He is a renowned French intelligence figure who is known in France as “Superflic”, which translates roughly as “Supercop.” In the French public eye he is a kind of combination of Eliot Ness, James Bond, and William Bratton. For many years he was the second in command of the ski-mask wearing GIGN, the legendary elite French special forces unit, who top the “badass” rankings of special forces anywhere, and had other high ranking internal security positions in the French government.

Since leaving government service he has handled security issues as a private contractor for heads of state in the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. He has been at the center of several controversies over the years, and is a well-known author. There is no question that he has access to intelligence at the state level which would give him insights into this affair.

I am curious to know more about Paul Barril. It does seem to me if he were to have proof that the US/UK secret services killed Litvinenko that it would be very dangerous to his own health to announce ahead of time that he is going to go public with the evidence.

Special to the New York Times
Published: September 27, 1985

PARIS, Sept. 26— Four members of the French intelligence agency and a suspended army officer were indicted today on charges of providing secret information to the press about the operation against the antinuclear protest ship, the Rainbow Warrior.

The four agents of the French intelligence service were arrested earlier on suspicion of having enabled the French press to identify the attackers of the ship, which belonged to the Greenpeace environmental movement, as French intelligence agents. The four intelligence agents charged today with giving away information have been identified as a colonel, a captain, and two noncommissioned officers of the agency.

The suspended army officer, the fifth man indicted today, is suspected by the Government of having served as a liaison between the intelligence agency and reporters. He is Paul Barril, a captain in a special presidential antiterrorist squad who was in the public eye here two years ago for leading a commando-style operation against suspected members of the Irish Republican Army in Paris. Mr. Barril, who was accused of fabricating evidence in the case, was suspended from the army for five years.

After his indictment today Mr. Barril said, ''It is scandalous to soil an officer of the French Army like this.''

Law on National Interest

The five men have been accused under a section of French law that prohibits ''making known military information not made public by the competent authority and whose disclosure is clearly of a nature as to harm the national interest.''

Coming in the context of the scandal generated by the French attack on the Greenpeace ship July 10, the arrests of the five men charged today have themselves generated a controversy.

Some have defended the arrests as a normal part of military discipline. Others, however, have contended that the prosecution of the intelligence agents is inappropriate at a time when the Government has pledged to expose the truth about the Greenpeace affair.

''It's like a dream,'' the newsweekly L'Express said today. ''Those who revealed the story are in prison while those who carefully hid it from the Government are at liberty.''

The Rainbow Warrior was sunk by two mines attached to its hull by frogmen in Auckland, New Zealand, shortly before it was scheduled to lead a Greenpeace protest against French nuclear weapons testing in the Pacific.

Prime Minister Laurent Fabius, who admitted Sunday that French agents had sunk the ship, said in a television interview Wednesday night that former Defense Minister Charles Hernu, who resigned a week ago, bore complete political responsibility in the operation. Mr. Fabius implied that Mr. Hernu was among the French officials who concealed their involvement in the affair from a special Government investigator last month.

The alleged mystery surrounding the black box of the Rwandan genocide
Thursday, June 25, 2009

It is the story of a black box, an orange metal box in the size of a large shoe box. The commercial airliners are equipped with such boxes, which are identified by numbers riveted to the metal. Designed to record flight data and cockpit conversations, black boxes are useful in case of accident.

It is indeed the story of a black box, but a story like no other ones. The one in question was in fact supposed to shelter in her womb the key to the Rwandan genocide in 1994 against the Tutsis and moderate Hutus.

It first appeared on the scene when the French troops involved in Turquoise military operation take their positions in Rwanda, while the genocide continues.

Suddenly, the box is brandished by Paul Barril, the former police officer in the Elysée. On June 28, 1994, Paul Barril reassures the public that he surely possesses the black box of the Falcon 50 of President Juvenal Habyarimana that was shot down three months ago. This is the attack that triggered the Rwandan genocide.

Paul Barril declared to the international institutions that he now holds the enigmatic black box capable of uncovering the mystery surrounding the genocide. From now on, all regards were turned away from Rwanda, away from the facts and the reality on the ground, to focus on this box comparable to the Holy Grail, which subsequently became the black box of genocide. Alas, a few days later, the blow falls. From July 8, 1994, the French newspaper “Le Monde” alleges that the black box presented by Paul Barril was "not the black box."

This concludes the first chapter about the mysterious black box, but the story is far from over. The black box will be resurrected and have a second life. This occured in 2004. As the tenth anniversary of the Rwandan genocide approaches, many damning evidences on the foreign policy of Paris in Rwanda have been made public. The date marks a turning point.

On March 10, 2004, the French newspaper, Le Monde, announced that “the black box of the Falcon 50 has been transferred, ten years ago, to the UN Headquarters in New York”. The newspaper specifically stated that "according to Judge Bruguiere, the United Nations are currently obstructing the investigation into the attack of April 6, 1994. The accusations were clear: for unknown reasons the United Nations retained an important piece of conviction. The public would immediately be flooded of flash news, articles and statements supporting this sudden turn of effects. Once again, the mechanisms of genocide are obscured in favor of a polar well tied.

Was Litvinenko Killed by UK Secret Services?

Video description:

A commanding general in the US army has stated that American troops will be going into Ukraine, not under NATO command, in March to train troops. Despite repeated denials by Moscow, mainstream media still insists that Russian troops are present inside the country. Fighting has flared after rocket attacks in Mariupol. The announcement was shortly after the opening of an inquiry into the death of Alexander Litvinenko in London. But will the inquiry consider Wikileaks cables admissible evidence? Some allege that Litvinenko may actually have been killed by our government.

Britain, not Russia, probably killed Litvinenko, says brother
BY AT EDITOR on JANUARY 22, 2016 ore-litvinenkos-death/
The brother of former Russian FSB secret service agent Aleksandr Litvinenko says the UK government had more motivation to kill him than Russia did, despite a British public inquiry which concluded that President Putin “probably” approved the assassination.
Maksim Litvinenko, Aleksandr’s younger brother who lives in Rimini, Italy, responded to the Thursday report by saying it was “ridiculous” to blame the Kremlin for the murder of his brother, stating that he believes British security services had more of a motive to carry out the assassination.
“My father and I are sure that the Russian authorities are not involved. It’s all a set-up to put pressure on the Russian government,” Litvinenko told the Mirror, adding that such reasoning is the only explanation as to why the inquiry was launched 10 years after his brother’s death.
He called the British report a “smear” on Putin, and stressed that rumors claiming his brother was an enemy of the state are false. He added that Aleksandr had planned to return to Russia, and had even told friends about the move.
Litvinenko went on to downplay his brother’s alleged role as a spy, working for either Russia or MI6, adding that the Western media is to blame for such characterization.
“The Russians had no reason to want Alexander dead,” he said. “My brother was not a spy, he was more like a policeman…he was in the FSB [Russian Federal Security Service] but he worked against organized crime, murders, arms trafficking, stuff like that.”
Suspect links death to MI6
Andrey Lugovoy, one of the accused for his alleged role in the death of Litvinenko, said the British intelligence tried to recruit him before Litvinenko’s death.
On Thursday, an inquiry report said Lugovoy, along with his former colleague Dmitry Kovtun, poisoned Litvinenko with polonium-210.
Participating in the ‘Evening with Vladimir Solovyov’ show on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, Lugovoy said he was likely exposed to polonium simultaneously with Litvinenko.
Lugovoy also drew a connection between the death of Litvinenko and the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6).
“Litvinenko died in November 2006. In March-April, I was openly offered cooperation [by MI6] and in order to motivate me somehow, I was denied a visa. That was in May 2006. And after I called Litvinenko – I’ve said this multiple times – I was granted a visa all of a sudden. I have always connected these two events,” Lugovoy recalled.
He stressed that prior to May 2006, he had always received British visas without any problems. “They [UK] always gave me visas, and did it with great pleasure before May 2006, when I was denied a visa after the British intelligence MI6 tried recruiting me.”
He does not plan to go to court to clear his name.
“I don’t intend to do that, because if I go into that, it means I will attach importance to what the British are doing, and they are trying to do everything so that we pay more attention to it [the UK inquiry], so that we react to it somehow,” he said.
He also does not want to leave Russia. “I have not left Russia for a long time now and I do not plan to do it.”
‘London relied on forged evidence’
The inquiry report on the Litvinenko affair is based on forged evidence, said Kovtun, one of the two Russians suspected of poisoning Litvinenko.

"The truth must be repeated over and over again,
because error is repeatedly preached among us, not
only by individuals, but by the masses. In periodicals
and cyclopaedias, in schools and universities; every-
where, in fact, error prevails, and is quite easy in the
feeling that it has a decided majority on its side."
