Today I realised for the second or third time that I am missing the topic "SCIENCE" or even better "ALTERNATIVE (or NEW) SCIENCE" in the forum categories, that's why I suggest to create it.

What do you think?

feeling that it has a decided majority on its side."

If you ask me less categories are better. Nothing is stopping anybody posting science or "new science"(whatever that might be). That is my view.

Less are better, definitely. But this topic is too important to be constantly drowned in "News and Current Affairs", from my point of view.
There are some categories here which hardly ever generate new comments and even more which contain chatting only, so maybe these could be condensed.

If members here thought coconuts were the most important topic we would have requests from those not interested in coconuts to start a different section for coconuts but I don`t see many people discussing coconuts so a section for it seem rather pointless when coconuts can be discussed in numerous sections.

Thanks, for your interesting comment, I understand what you are trying to convey.

Science = coconuts

to you.

On one hand, i know most use the 'recent' button, so topics that are new or popular will be at or near the top or at least on the first page for a while anyway.

On the other hand, the categories can make it easier to find topics when they havent been active for a while, as they will be more prominent in said categories due to less movement.

I agree there is perhaps a void due to there being no science (and physics) section. Not sure if more categories really do any harm... sure the forum home page gets a bit longer, but one more for now cant really hurt perhaps.

As for condensing already existing forum categories, well each category already typically spans/contains a number of topics in each category and it is probably easier to leave as is.

At the moment i suppose general is the best place... general is for serious topics, while the lounge is more for members chatting.

If we are to make an extra category, then perhaps it should be the place for more things. As well as science, we perhaps make it the place for physics, technology (not computer tech as we already have that) and any more similar topics anyone can think of and suggest here.

Ive made extra categories before based on member suggestions and there not being a 'place' for certain subjects.

I will gladly make a list of already existing threads/topics that suit the SCIENCE category and might be moved there, asap, if you want me to.

Sure, post them up here... i think we will make that extra category ok, i do see your POV that there is a void, and its not such a bad idea if there is more topics than science in there as i said before.

As i said, im not against more categories because it makes finding specific topics easier imho, plus when using the recent tab, the extra categories dont really change anything there... the topics that are moving are still the same, they will be towards the top of the list.

There's also the option to add subcategories under a more general category which would reduce the length of the board and also makes things easier to navigate. Categorising stuff seems like a logical solution...I may be going out on a bit of a limb here with this - my thinking is that some egg head intellectual giant at some point way back in our dim and distant past dreamt the Idea up because it served a purpose, in an easy to comprehend universal format. I guess he got pissed off with all his coconuts being mixed in with his honey due melons or some shit like that. Wonder is the brain behind Departments was a relation?

Climate and Pharmaceutical issues could be a sub category or the same main category.

Maybe I'm just too old fashioned and remember the days when humans were intelligent enough to make practical use of all their digits, on devices which were furnished with more than one button dedicated to prodding with a dextrous opposable thumb. How we progress errrr regress?

I would like to suggest to move "Skycentrism" into the science category.

truth-zone.net/forum/news-and-current-affairs/63289-skycentrism-we-live-inside-the-earth.html

Did not yet have the time to make a list, because of the recent ... events
but I will try to make it asap, or at least search the categories for suitable subjects.

Thanks for creating the new category!
