Hay guys how is your day? ............ Anyone of you have a problem as mine?

Not sure if this is only on my side here?

In the Edit view function page its truly getting a bit jumpy for some reason?
I did not have before here & loses its last focus point..

Also the Mouse response GENERALLY & the centre mouse scrolling wheel is getting strange and slow responding!.....................
and is jerky here on your forum pages ! :dunno:

Could this be the Chat thing which is popping up permanently on each opened page??
Could you actually disable the Chat function altogether within user accounts setting :dunno:

If you not in EDITING & PREVIEW at the same time the page should not reloads every time you enter new text to a posting?

I TRIED ON OTHER SIDES & PAGES

BUT IS JUST HERE IN THE MOMENT >>>>>>>>> SO IT MAYBE IS NOT MY COMPUTER HERE OR MY OPERA BROWSER[ or mouse. :dunno:

As if the script is reloading something over and over!

(MAYBE SOME SCRIPTS ARE RELOADING THEMSELVES OVER AND OVER)?

If it does it will lose focus!!

Also the scrolling down to the bottom of the Text editing view field will not stay put on the bottom of page and jumps up so many lines at once & you lose focus of what you were looking at the last position where your mouse courser was positioned!

Anyway ................ as I said its maybe only on my end here?

Does anyone else has such a problem within this Forum in the moment!
This did not happen before to its a new thing which came up!

Or is it just a issue with me here

So ............................ NOW I WILL GIVE A RESTART ON MY COMPUTER TO SEE IF IS GONE AFTER IT?
Never had a restart for the last two days.......... :roll: :chuckle:

LOOK HERE :
THIS IS ALL THE STUFF running in the background BY ONLY HAVING THE EDIT PAGE OPEN.

I havent seen this issue myself.

I dont have opera installed though, but i have explorer, firefox and chrome, and havent seen such problems.

Maybe its the browser, but also the site in that the browser doesnt like one of the scripts thats running. :dunno:

The chat cant be turned off in your user settings no... but if the chatbar is expanded (press the << << icons if its not expanded), you can click on the word 'off' and it will turn chat off if you havent done so already. When its off, it will say 'Chat is off' on the left hand side of the chat bar.

It should then stay off for your account whenever you log in and use the forum, because it remembers.

You can press the arrows on the right hand side ( >> >> ) to reduce the chatbar once you do this if you like so its not as noticeable.

Try turn the chat off if you havent already and see if it changes anything.

Oh wow ............... silly me; just deleted one of my posting I was working on :facepalm: :emb:

This must had been my first just pushed the wrong button LoL!..................

Two points regarding this miss-happening:
1) The Delete button is truly a bit in close vicinity of the EDIT button too!
(Same colouring as the EDIT button and naturally double the width too?)

2) This must be the first time ever for me that if you would like to Delete something that there is not a pop-up message to confirm your deletion?
Or maybe the button could be relocated far away from all the other once which are getting used very regularly all the time......

Maybe something someone loves to play with one day while having nothing else to do; :) being close to the source code............. ;)

That's a strange one.................
don't know which programme I could point to of hand which would right-out delete anything without giving a last second warning sign/ message? ...... Except of-cause If I specifically disabled the default function.
Truly my first............

Anyway just something happen to me :chuckle:

Who knows maybe there is a setting which could at least give you a warning before deletion?

Hope there is not such button somewhere to delete your entire account by mistakenly pushing the wrong button??

But there is something I may figured out about the Preview page issue we had some days back.
But I will place this into another posting on its own!

Thanks Guys for listening to my dribble! :wissl:

If you tell me where your post was when you deleted it, which thread and page, i can probably restore it. :up:

The posts that are deleted arent permanently deleted until a moderator deletes and purges them from the database as part of maintenance, which isnt done all the time, just now and then... so your post is likely to still exist, it just wont show to you until i restore it.

SOLVED!
oiram
I may just found & came across the problem why the Preview window in specific cases will not function & show any content?
Also I think this Wrap Overflow issue is also coursing the jumping of the mouse effect!
Once set correctly on the forum to all wrap content many other issues will be gone at the same time I think!?

Note:
This will be a strange Posting ............. but with a clear repair function result in the end!!!
Before you go any further to make this work as intended please disable your (browsers Fit to Width function.) first!!!

Lets see if I can make a simulation for you guys so the problem appears & you can see that the Preview window in Editing mode will not show up any content at times?

Points of logical conclusions:
1)
If I do not have my (Fit to Width on Opera enabled) & there is some long text or code within any posting it will just (OVERFLOW) & pushes the Preview off screen & it appears at first hand to be blank & not working!
But once I enabled my (Fit to Width on Opera ) it all comes into view and the Horizontal/Vertical Scroll-bars are visible too; so you can navigate again normally.

I'm 100% sure this is just a minor issue & once set correctly the entire problem will be fixed in one go!
(Set the WRAP FUNCTION to enabled; on both long texts and any code content) & I'm just about sure this problem will be solved for good!
I noticed that any code will not be WRAPPED & its overflowing out of screen by a mile & in cases should someone has code within his posting between the (code tags) & others quoting this specific posting they will end up with the same problem it appears!

2) Appears the forums setting is not yet set to also WRAPPED any long texts which includes code data ............. & this is creating the blank out stage in Editing Preview view and nothing shows up unless you enable the browsers Fit to Width function.

Try it for yourself; I just got the same on this exact posting I created specifically for it where I simulated the issue with some added code in between the Code stags & within the Spoiler!

Open the Spoiler & make sure your Browsers ( Fit to Width function) is not enabled).

But disable your ( Fit to Width function) & try to quote the posting you should have the problems to either not see the Preview.
Secondly there is no HORIZONTAL SCROLL IN THE EDIT BOX TO EVEN GET TO THE END OF MY NORMAL WRITTEN TEXT!!!!

YOU CAN NOT NAVIGATE WITH THE MOUSE INTO THE OVERFLOW AREA! ONLY BY KEYBOARD YOU CAN!

Bottom line its the Wrapping setting is not being enable on the forum yet! (I'm sure!!!!)

Once we all done we can delete this posting or we leave it for others to test on this post to if this is the problem other members coming across sometimes??

ALL I DID PLACED SOME RANDOM OVER LONG NORMAL TEXT & CODE IN-BETWEEN THE CODE TAGS [ Click to expand ]

Thanks a lot but I ended up already redoing the post! :thumbup:

Was just amazed that the post ended up right out deleted on the spot without asking for any sort of confirmation,

Not a problem at all .............
I just have to be more careful the next time!
At least now I know that there is no warning message on deletion.

Hopefully others will read my posting over time & they will also understand to take good care with the deleting button.

Anyway so there is still a recovery way which is OK too; ............... only thing is that you would need to bother others for it!

OK! ............. but there is one thing; I would like to ask you guys/girls from the technical team.

What version Forum you are running here?

I just had this silly spontaneous Idea to get me the same Forum download & install it on my personal Server just to play around with things.
This way I can play around on my own & learn at the same time.
Who knows I may even can help or get problems sorted out at the same time. >>>>

1) (I like to figure out & learn what this OVERFLOW PROBLEM is)??

2) I like to make my own width Forum screen set-up; so I can prepare my postings first on my own setting & then just send it out.

I had my own two personal Forums in the past; fighting the Indonesian corrupt system; but both servers before closed my accounts.
BASTARDS? >>>> :mad:
BUT I KNOW 100% THE INDONESIAN GOVERNMENT HAD HIS BIG FREAKING FOOT IN IT!
(They just spammed my forums out with Porn).

SO I JUST DOWNLOADED & TRANSFERRED THE INSTALL PACKAGE TO MY OWN free server which I never used for more than two years!
Is this by any chance the version you are running here?

pkg_kunena_v3.0.5_2014-03-09.zip

http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsrelease/19290/158214/pkg_kunena_v3.0.5_2014-03-09.zip

I wished I could get to the DIF database server to get all my postings from them in one big file which is all stored in BBcode.......
I have a html backup from all my own posting which is about (1,5 GB) backed up with all my images collected since 2002.

Well with luck the times comes soon & people will ask ............. what did you do all these years?? ...... then I just give them a copy on a Sick to keep busy reading though it all for years on end :P :D

You go to keep your own records ............. the time will come!!

Woops that may have actually been me having a tidy up. The ones I deleted permanently all had what looked like finished post following them other wise they were left intact. I think there may also be a time limit on the restoration for members but I'm not exactly 100% sure about that. You could do a test and delete a post and check back in 48 hours to see of it is still accessible.

If you are working on a post could you mark the post with some sort of WIP statement, in bold red on the first line so we know it's still active please?

Sorry if I trashed something you were working on! :emb:

Text overflow in post

But look here I traced around & found something small pointing to this OVERFLOW issue which is maybe not set to auto yet?
yer that cause u run a hackers site i know i have seen it before

change your code in your kunena.css to match this:

line 678
#Kunena td.fb-msgview-right {
border-right:1px solid #757575;
overflow:auto;
padding:5px 10px;
vertical-align:top;
word-wrap:break-word;
}

line 752
#Kunena div.msgtext {
border-top:1px solid #757575;
margin-top:5px;
overflow:auto;
padding:10px 0 0;
width:100%;
word-wrap:break-word;
}
Text overflow in post 3 years 10 months ago
is there a way to fix the kunena character limit on posts so for example it does this.

the long line that says "test" pushes the page over causing the page to become extremely wide.

Example :
Warning: Spoiler! [ Click to expand ]Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.
it doesnt do this on kunena 1.6 woundering if we can get the fix for 1.5

In the Edit view function page its truly getting a bit jumpy for some reason?

I get that as well.The scroll bar climbs up and I have to hold it down and then post and repeat until done.The quote feature knocks some letters out,but I just space forward before quoting anything.I've had this happen on every forum that looks like this one.,whichever type it is.

Update on the above issue....................

Ok after a full days work playing with this; I finally found the Script file which creates your

Overflow problem in Edit view & Preview here on the Forum!!

I am able to run each individual (*.css) file on Opera until I isolatted the one which creates the Overflow problem!
Only one file makes the problem .......... now I will check which part within the (typography.style2.css) creates the trouble!
That will take me some time!

Not sure what specific the file is used for. ............ but to test it just remove or rename the file temporary & check if the problem is gone!
Worked on Opera 100% I just switched of the (typography.style2.css) & all was working normal with no more Overflow & the word wrap was perfectly working!

Do with the info as you which!

Cleanup in this file: truth-zone.co.uk/components/com_kunena/template/blue_eagle/css/kunena.forum-min.css

The problem file is this one even so you changed the values in the one above!

This file will override it and all Overflows with no more Word wrap within the Message Box & Preview Box!
