Hello all,

We have moved the site to a Joomla 3 template , it was previously on Joomla 2 , which is no longer supported. And the previous template could not support joomla 3, so unfortunately we had to change some things.

There are some issues we are working through.

One is slashes appearing in posts when people use quotation marks or apostrophes. Another is the \\\'mark forums read\\\' buttion doesnt seem to work, and previously read posts might be showing green (unread for you all)

I also know the text in the reply box is too small, will sort that soon.

The site home page needs some styling and some stuff around the forum might be missing or need styling also, It will be sorted in time, though the forum is the main priority.

So if there any forum glitches/gripes please post them here, let us know.

I hope to figure out the slashes appearing where they shouldnt issue soon.

Regards,

nov.

BTW, this template is wider than the last one.

So some of you mightve been zooming ( i used to use the forum at 110% zoom ) , perhaps you might have to go back to 100 depending on device and resolution.

Its a pain changing templates and id have preferred not to, but the last one was from a provider that doesnt seem to offer upgrades to keep in line with joomla upgrades. Word is this template is from a company that provides much better ongoing updates.

ok i switched it back again.

Too many problems for now so were back on the original template and site

Apologies for the inconvenience, some of you mightve had trouble accessing the site while it was being changed about.

Im outta spare time so its staying as is for a while.

More testing is in order for the replacement before its unleashed again. :hahano:

For anyone having trouble with the site, try press the refresh button first.

Then clear internet cache cookies or use an incognito/inprivate window if the above doesnt help.

All ive done is put the original site back up after trying the new one (which has issues so i pulled it like larry) , but for those who were on the new one too, some things might get confused on the device/computer end as they will sometimes store some info instead of loading it everytime, and there might be some stuff from the new site there.

So refresh button first. :hahano:

Me messing with things booted everyone.

I dare say there might be some confused browsers out there now, as technically its not the same site (old to new)

Theyre two different sites and i was swapping which one 'truth-zone.net' points to... so yep some might be locked out for a bit.

The forum seemed ok in testing, i missed the slashes appearing whenever an apostrophe or quotation was used, because it didnt affect existing posts... if it werent for that i mightve left it up.. the rest was just cosmetic.

Not before too long we wouldve ended up with hundreds of posts that had slashes ( these ones \ ) in them if i left the new site up, and it wasnt a frontend thing, they were actually in the database where the posts really live.

ragnarok i fixed yours. :hahano: it wasnt too many posts by then.

Thankyou  The forum should look and work ok now.. it is wider than before to suit the more modern resolutions.

Some stuff around it like modules underneath and the sites home page isnt finished yet.. but i figured its better to get on the new platform now as the posts and threads keep piling in and thats where the action is and the work to move them later if staying with the old one. The forum is where most of the use is.

Ive still got issues with the (new) indicators appearing everywhere again and the 'mark posts read' buttons dont seem to work for me, i will figure it out, or it will fix itself when a day clocks over, same goes for some of the 'Last Posts' not showing on the forum front... they are there when pressing recent, that issue will go away on its own as the forums used.

The post preview doesnt work for me, i will figure that out.

Again if anyone sees anything off with the forum , mention it here.

Im not sure a files been lost, i think the template is interfering.

This happened with the last template, and frog fixed it so unfortunately i dont know what he did, i will ask him.

The more smilies link doesnt work in PMs also, that was also an issue i recall.

Its a pain because this forum (kunena) has to work inside a joomla template, and the templates often throw kunena settings off.

Looks O.K to me, seems to work fine now. One thing I've noticed though, previously read posts are showing as unread, or showing up in green as new? I notice in the members general section there's also an option for mods to delete a thank you.

The thankyou delete is something new for you? I figured you'd have that in that cat because your mod anyway, if not then they added it with the upgrade - this is the latest version of kunena now, it was outdated before, they tend to make small changes here and there.

The read posts thing is an issue yes, ive submitted a tech question over at kunenas support forum to ask why thats happening, hopefully someone there knows alot more about how it works than i do... its annoying and id like to fix it.

@ spec, yes some avatars get messed up with site moves, this build was actually pulled from the old site some time ago then heavily worked over, so that explains the av... i did update the avatar folder with the current one we had just before i switched to this new site, but i noticed some images (just 2 or 3 from memory) didnt transfer in ftp for some reason, so some people might get an av they had some months ago.

If anyones missing their av let me know, it would be in the old site folder i can probably get it. :hahano:

What was wrong with the old template? ...... the latest is not always the better.
I would never upgrade the Win8 or Win10 for example. (I'm old fashion suppose?)

My personal system ...... I always pick the version below the latest one.... but that's me!

When things work well & good ....... its time for change.
Nothing last for ever.......

1) Loading BBCode editor... Not loading!!

1a) Smilies don't enter because BBCode is not loading.

2) No more Preview

3) Error
You have to many links in your message, please decrease it!

4) Devolution ....... Total users online: 4 Members and 556 Guests Online!

The tec mod must got board suppose..... :P :

The old template was joomla 2.5, its not supported anymore. Eventually things will stop working.

These little issues we had them with the last template also mario, they got ironed out one at a time. Like the preview and others.

Id rather not have changed it either but like i said eventually its not good, and also becomes hackable when its old platforms without available security patches, its just the way it is.

I can fix the links thing, kunena made a new setting, its default at 10 links per post to prevent spam, i'll bump it up to 50 or something since we dont have a spam issue here.

BB code editor works for me, i will do more testing, i might have to try your browser.
