from post #190--
I've told you, it doesnt work right, the counts are off versus actual visitors, the joomla/kunena who's online is more accurate as it is the native counter not some add on that a third party has made, except it doesnt tally them up unfortunately.

Thanks.

Thats right, Joomla has its own database that logs incoming unique visitors as sessions. Joomla is of course this sites software platform, and enourmous amounts of effort have been put in by teams of people over many years to create and update it, just like awstats and cpanel.

Awstats is the shit... it logs the server hits and is native cpanel, an industry standard and accurate, it goes above joomlas head if you will, its there on the site whether joomla exists or not and logs unique visitors also.

Extrawatch is another plug in that is well regarded and used extensively on joomla sites.

Joomla, extrawatch and awstats can be cross referenced and they all register the same thing re. IPs... this is what i was trying to explain to tackler the other day. They dont miss IPs , or duplicate IPs and so on.

Some of the other lesser plug ins have been made by dudes in their moms basement and they have flaws, and also tend to not get updated to keep up with successive versions of joomla and cpanel.

When you guys get your forums coming up in the big G's results anywhere near where TZ does for a wide variety of topics, you will see your visitors increase... perhaps then you can make the 'Forum Information & Statistics' module down the bottom public :P

The conserpiracy guys/gals have put some effort in at their joint (albeit being a much younger site than this among other differences) and they do get a decent few visitors.
I remember the good old days, when 90+ year olds in nursing homes lived forever. Darn this pesky virus.
