An alternative to paypal.....yes! Bring it on!

The ebay/paypal monopoly needs to be broken.

Would this system be better for you, DG? (I would have thought PayPal might expect international internet business with international partners having multi-national accounts tied in together. It's not rocket science in this day and age, is it?).

Any alternative would be better for me right now cantata.

PayPal have frozen the forum business account with funds in it, because they can apparently. They are NOT being co-operative regarding unfreezing it either.

Could a high street bank get away with doing that? I don't think so do you.

Is there no "watch-dog" kind of thing that oversees their activity, DG? Because if not, they must be doing this to high numbers of people in this day and age. Today, surely, there are many businesses around the world that have partners tied into business across different countries - I would have thought that if Paypal objected to that often enough, there might have developed some recourse to have them investigated.

Is this why some sites (like Amazon for example) won't allow paypal on board - or is that just not wanting to share any of the profits?

They have to at least release the funds at some point (after 180 days max apparently), but I'm not sure that they have to unfreeze the account itself unless I provide them with the information they are demanding from me, which I'm reluctant to do on principle.

I need to phone them again (couldn't get hold of the 'right person' last time I tried).

They're stricter/more draconian when it comes to business accounts than personal paypal ones for whatever reason, and seem to be able to do pretty much what they like.

Which means of course that if you are a small business that relies on internet sales to survive, they've basically got you by the short & curlies.

when my ebay account was hacked some years ago by a russian hacker (because I never use it and they always go for accounts that are abandoned) :loco:
the hacker just put my name on his address somewhere in Moscow
with this my Paypal account was also hacked even though they always advert with their security
the hacker bought relaxed useless crap like Handbags and Perfumes over the night for about 1500 Euros

Paypal did not even check that it was not my address :wtf:
