The left and right is one big puppet show. A great big lie.
For example, everyone has been led to believe the Nazis were uber right wing, nothing could be further from the truth. They were a National Socialist Government, the state was god and they had massive social policies in place, all "Left Wing" policies by their definitions. But the Socialists today need to distance themselves from that, and will need to distance themselves from Communism to, as more and more people wake up to the fact the Socialism was one of the main, if not the main, cause of death in the last 150 years.
Policies so good they make them mandatory...hmm... don't you love our loving governments.
This kinda depends on what sort of 'right wing'. The Nazis were fervent nationalists and though they espoused some socialist notions, there was scant socialism in practice. Socialism is traditionally about equality and social justice, something neither Hitler nor Stalin actually practiced.
The right, like the left, has authoritarian and individualistic strands. Just like Stalinism and Nazism come full circle, so does extreme individualism - for example Brendan O'Neill; calls himself a Marxist, but on welfare sounds like Iain Duncan Smith.
I believe in balancing society & the individual as far as possible which is why I'm a libertarian communist
It's kinda curious how you get all these conspiracy theories about Common Purpose and wotnot, but none whatsoever concerning the way the old RCP/Living Marxism crew manuovered themselves into influential positions.
