Hitler Youth Camps in America (1935-1941)

December 29, 2018 renegade

The US National Archives recently released footage of one of the 1937 Hitler Youth summer camps that was operating in the United States at the time. This video at the end was filmed in Windham, New York in the summer of 1937.

From the National Archives Blog:

In Volks-Deutsche Jungen in U.S.A. (German Youth in the U.S.A) you’ll see what first appears to be an unremarkable story of a boys’ summer camp. The film starts with the camp under construction and excited children piling onto chartered buses to make the journey from New York City to Windham, New York in the summer of 1937. The boys pitch tents, unload crates of baked beans, and perform physical fitness drills. If you pay close attention, you might notice that some of the boys are wearing shorts bearing the single lightning bolt insignia that marked the younger contingent of the Hitler Youth, but it’s not until the “Flaggenappell” (flag roll call) at 13:47 that the affiliation becomes clear.

After researching what we called the “Nazi Boy Scout” film, I was able to find out a bit about these American Hitler Youth. First, they were most certainly not Boy Scouts. The camp the boys and young men in this film attended was operated by the Deutsche-Amerikanische Berufsgemeinschaft (DAB), more commonly known as the German-American Vocational League or the German-American Bund. The DAB, which came to include more than 70 local chapters, was founded in 1936 to promote Germany and the Nazi party in America. The most well-known of the organization’s activities was the 1939 pro-Nazi rally held at Madison Square Garden that drew a reported 20,000 attendees.

Less well-known is that the DAB also operated as somewhat of a cultural indoctrination organization for German-American children, with activities that are depicted in several of the films we hold. The summer camps, complete with the official uniforms and banners of the Hitler Youth, might be the most visual and chilling example of the DAB’s attempts to instill Nazi sympathies in German-American children. Another film, intended to encourage boys to attend the camp, includes a perhaps unintentionally ominous intertitle that translates to “German boy you also belong to us.” Even though it happened more than 75 years ago, it’s unsettling to see American children raise a Nazi flag and know that it occurred just 150 miles outside New York City.

Since these films were the property of an independent organization, you might wonder how they ended up at the National Archives. The sequence of events that led to the film coming to the Motion Picture Preservation Lab began when the U.S. government searched the DAB’s national headquarters on January 5th 1942. Under Federal Grand Jury Subpoena, agents seized scores of 16mm films and sound recordings that documented the activities of the DAB. The audiovisual material comprised what was labeled “EXHIBIT 147” in the case against the DAB’s un-American activities. These films and sound recordings are held at the National Archives as records of that investigation. An archivist discovered them in the textual holdings in the late 1980s and transferred to the Motion Picture, Sound, and Video Branch at that time.

A short, but amazing animation of the Eastern Front in 1941, which shows what an off-the-scale enormous effort the Germans had undertaken and how close they actually got to winning the war:

Truth Will Out Radio: Power and Authority in the Modern World

Sven Longshanks and Dennis Wise look at ‘Power and Authority in the Modern World’ a core part of Australian education based upon the rise of National Socialist Germany.

It is compulsory for years 11 and 12 to study this and it takes the place of the previous mandatory holohoax indoctrination. It is designed to demonise National Socialism and by extension all Nationalism, by pretending that National Socialism was an undemocratic dictatorship that ruled by terrorising it’s citizens and censoring or executing it’s opponents.

The course looks specifically at the NSDAP between 1932 and 1939 and includes headings such as the initial consolidation of Nazi power, the nature of Nazi ideology, the role of prominent individuals in the Nazi state, the various methods used by the Nazi regime to exercise control and the impact of the Nazi regime on life in Germany.

Sven and Dennis break down the various headings and discuss the hidden history of what really happened.

Thanks mate, a nice short straight-to-the point vid..:)
Incidentally it contains what many people consider to be one of Hitler's biggest mistakes, namely he pulled panzer groups out of the eastward advance on Moscow and sent them south (down the grey arrow below) to cut off massive Russian forces around Kiev, despite his panzer generals fierce protests who wanted to push onto Moscow.
The Russkis were cut off just fine, but the operation caused the Germans a serious delay, and by the time the panzers had been sent back north to resume the advance on Moscow time was running out before the approaching winter..

Yes, a lot of people consider this as a "massive blunder" portraying Hitler as a fool, or (for the conspiracy theorists) even as outright sabotage from Hitler in order to 'lose' the war on purpose since "Moscow was ready for the taking".

Indeed, if the Germans would have seized Moscow, the Soviet empire's backbone would have been broken.

Having me surprised about this remarkable 'anomaly' as well, I did some research into this matter. And found out what most mainstream historians / documentaries fail to mention, which is that the supply lines were severely lagging behind, due to the extremely fast advance of the German army.

Thus, in order to have logistics catch up, army group Centre (which was nothing but massive) was ordered to halt and several Panzer groups were dispatched to help out army groups North and South for the time being.

Another thing to take into consideration of army group Centre to not advance, is the fact that it had started to rain for days / weeks on end. And as the Soviet Union didn't have much roads worthwhile, as we had in Europe, the roads the German army moved on turned into a sludge of mud, rendering advance practically impossible.

After weeks of rain, temperatures started to drop hardening the roads again, thus having Centre group on it's way again.
Which unfortunately was too late, since a month later temperatures dropped to extremeties, making the German army incapable to fight on.

Rest assured, if the Germans could, they would have taken Moscow.

For the record, here are Guderian's and Hitler's differing views about whether to go for Moscow or Kiev-

PS- military analysts too are undecided whether Hitler should have gone for Moscow or Kiev.
There are literally scores of Barbarossa wargames so that we can simulate both options, and even then it's inconclusive, sometimes Moscow works and sometimes not.
All we know for sure is that if Adolf had captured Moscow in '41 it would have bled the Wehrmacht white because the Russkis were fortifying the outskirts like crazy with minefields, AT ditches, trench complexes, barbed wire and huge numbers of troop reinforcements.
Afterwards even if they'd taken Moscow the Germans would have needed months to fully replenish and resupply in order to drive on Stalingrad in '42.

In my view it was a mistake not to continue on and take Moscow. The army had the impetus (and enthusiasm) which was somewhat lost with an erroneous change of plan. The Germans could have consolidated their position at Moscow with supplies via rail links in preparation for a subsequent drive south to the Ukraine. Guderian was wise enough not to argue his case, but he was right and Hitler (and his yes men) were wrong.

He was right indeed. Or rather said they better should have gone for Moscow, since we will never know if they would have succeeded.

Guderian was a military genius who revolutionized armored warfare. A VERY offensive-minded general; the way it should be.

Here is the second animation of the Eastern Front, this time of 1942.

As from this year we only get to hear of Stalingrad; it is mind-blowing to see on what an absolute MASSIVE front the Germans were fighting.

Just have a look at it...

Truth Will Out Radio: Clearing out the Lodges

Poster entitled "The relationship between Jews and Freemasons." The text at the top reads: "World politics World revolution." The text at the bottom reads, "Freemasonry is an international organization beholden to Jewry with the political goal of establishing Jewish domination through world-wide revolution." The map, decorated with Masonic symbols (temple, square, and apron), shows where the Masonic revolutions took place in Europe from the French Revolution of 1789 to the Spanish Revolution in 1936.

Sven Longshanks and Dennis Wise discuss the new chapter of ‘The Freemasonic Victors of World War Two’ dealing with the National Socialist suppression of Freemasonry.

Hitler wrote about Freemasonry in Mein Kampf and shortly after the Reichstag fire he used his new powers to close down the Lodges. Due to his belief that not all Freemasons were in on the conspiracy, some were allowed to renounce their membership and continue in their positions, but most were removed from office.

In the countries that were liberated by Germany, the same took place with France being particularly enthusiastic about declaring them enemies of the state after learning of their crimes against the Republic.

Exhibitions were held in Paris and Brussels and a feature film was made utilising the evidence found in the Lodges to detail the Masonic involvement in starting wars and revolutions.

At the end of the war, a vast collection of Masonic artefacts were captured by the Soviet forces and removed to Moscow, where they would later be recovered by a scion of the Rothschild family.

More important than the artefacts though was the documentary evidence found in the Lodges that proved the alleged conspiracy. These formed the basis of a movie showing who was responsible for the war and exhibitions to the public exposing what the secret societies had been up to.

Confirmation of the Freemasonic infiltration of Britain was discovered just recently when ancestry.com released the details of famous Freemasons of the last 200 years in Britain, proving the German allegations to be correct.

Yes and by overruling Guderian, Hitler showed a classic example of how politicians like to interfere in the running of wars when he said "My generals know nothing of the economic aspects of war" in post #4328
Another classic example of political interference was with Vietnam, Gen. Westmoreland said afterwards- "Washington locked me into a defensive strategy, preventing me bringing the war to a swift conclusion"
And another example is Op Desert Storm 1991 when the Coalition kicked Saddam's army out of Kuwait and were all set to chase them all the way back to Baghdad and round up Saddam, but Pres Bush Senior got cold feet and stopped the war, leaving Saddam sitting pretty.
Maggie Thatcher was furious at Bush's softness and publicly criticised him with the words "Tyrants should be SEEN to be deposed!"

It's always easy judging in hindsight.

Keep in mind, back in WW II there were no satellites, no drones, no internet, no GPS and stuff like that.

So Germany went 'into the dark' when attacking the Soviet Union as a pre-emptive strike.

Every invasion by the Nazis was a highly successful Blitzkrieg attack, followed by deliberate failure upon failure.

The script was to occupy and lose.

Hitñer and his (((criminal crew))) was the worst thing that could have happened to the Germans.

Yeah Hitler was on a roll and had conquered Europe so it must have been an irresistible temptation for him to keep running with the ball and go into Russia too using his sensational blitzkrieg concept.
The Soviet Union's armed forces of 1941 were inferior to Germany's in equipment and training and must have looked a pushover, just as Adolf said-
"We have only to kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down."
That's exactly the way it went in 1941, but the winter delay gave the Russians time to play their trump card- manpower- and bring up a constant stream of fresh new divisions to grind down the Werhmacht over the following years, plus of course the fabulous T-34 tank (below) was being churned out in their thousands-

^ This post is nonsense, created in the mind of someone who wants to see failure for obvious reasons, while in fact the opposite was true.

Because first off; Germany already was broken, bankrupt and starving before Hitler came into power during the Weimar years. (1919 - 1932)
Hitler actually pulled Germany out of that mess and lifted the Nation up to the highest civilization the world has ever seen. This is a fact.
If Hitler was such a bad guy having in mind 'to kill off the Germans', the only thing he would have had to do is let Germany go communist and have the Kalergi-plan being implemented back in 1930 already. Matter of fact, Africans and other foreigners were already being brought into Germany during the Weimar years, and Hitler put and end to that.

Second, The Blitzkrieg was proven to be extremely successful, since the Third Reich looked like this at the height of it's power:

Only a fool goes about claiming that "every successful attack, was followed up by failure upon failure", otherwise the empire wouldn't have spanned that far obviously. ;)

The problem having such a massive territory under control was that military forces were spread thin / overreached, while in the meantime Germany was fighting 3 jewish controlled super-powers: UK, Soviet-Union and the USA.

Gaia's idea of 'the script was to occupy and lose' is another very simple minded, childish reasoning coming from someone who doesn't have any logical answers to why Hitler actually went on such a huge conquest. Indeed, Germany lost the war, but this doesn't prove that Hitler was out to deliberately lose the war at all.

Because if Hitler was out to deliberately lose, then why even initiate operation Barbarossa just 2 weeks prior to the Soviet-Union invasion of Europe back in 1941 already? :dunno:

If Hitler really was out to lose, he would either just have Germany become communist in 1933 already, or later on in 1941 just have held back Barbarossa for 2 weeks and let the Soviet-Union come steamrolling in with the most massive army the world has ever seen.

Don't forget the deliberate stalling of August-Sep 1941, the reroutings towards Kiev, the lack of supply lines deliberately held back, the Luftwaffe theoretically able to provide air support but failing, the lack of bombings on Baku shutting down the Soviet oil supply, yet choosing Grozny instead and the strategic "failures" during 1942, all the way up to "Stalingrad 1943".

In theory, the Nazis should have easily won, but the command was to hold back, reroute, split up divisions and other inexplicable decisions all geared up for losing the war against the Soviets.

That was the Nazionist script all along, and Germany was the biggest victim of that. Nazionism all was about weakening Germany, first from the inside out by the jewish cabal the Nazis were, led by foreigner Dolfy H., and later to lose against the Soviets and the Allies.

Back then Germany didn't have satellite or drones in order to easily map out Soviet forces. They could only make estimates of what they were up against. Which they greatly underestimated actually, as has been proven by Hitler's secret recording with Mannerheim.

Gaia's remark that "the Germans should have easily won" is a very dumb statement, since the Soviet army was far bigger and even better equipped than the German army was. Since, for example, the Soviets already had thousands of superior T-34 tanks on the field, which were only counter-produced by the German Tiger and Panther tanks later on in the war.

The reason the Germans came that far into Soviet territory was due to sheer speed, tactics and surprise which shocked the Soviet troops into dissarray.

If the Soviets would have attacked Europe before the Germans had launched operation Barbarossa, there would have absolutely been no way to stop them and the Soviets would have steamrolled through Europe all up to Portugal.
