Possibly old but oh well,
The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which

 go texas!

texas is still the only state that can withdraw it's participation in the "united states" and become it's own country...or so the word goes, not sure how true it is :coffee: but really, the bush family farm is there...not sure i'd wanna share a country that small with them
I don't like to think before I speak.
I like to be just as surprised as everyone else by what comes out of my mouth.

spent 9 years in texas... not there anymore though, can't say i miss it all that much. last time i was back i couldn't find my way out of the bus stop, too many streets, too many people, and your fucked if you try to find the alamo anymore (sits smack dab in the center of san antonio (where i lived), but you can drive circles around it before you realize its there).

So if Texas (or any other state/s) did actually secede, what would be the end result do you think, another civil war?

With the present tensions in the US over firearms & the right to bear them, that scenario might not be as far-fetched as it first sounds...

doesnt matter if states sucedefrom the government or not... if current government keeps pissing ppl off like theyre doing their gonna get strung up in the town square (or capital) and publicly executed... ppl are pissed off and they keep pushing, its only a matter of time before the population pushes back (and from everything ive seen and heard lately, a lot of vets and active military say they will back the public and protect them from domestic threats)

Can they leave the Union? I mean, is it a real option that really could be actioned? How wonderful if it could be! Texas could do rather well financially, couldn't it, so it might be very much better off. I don't know anything about US Government or Law, but what a fantastic option to have available to you if it's real!

I wish Warwickshire could leave the UK (except it's a fekkin Tory stronghold, even with the high speed railtrack being forced through their back gardens - I'm all for it, myself!).

texas can legally separate and become its own country, or at least thats the rumor thats always been around. as for the other states, including my own, i have no idea...i suppose they could just stop answering to the federal gov and denounce it if they really wanted to

:O

That's fantastic. Go Texas. Do it!

:)

I think over here Cornwall has murmurings about going under its own rule. But I think it was some kind of "joke" or reference to a time Cornwall was a bastion of Cornishness, with its own language and stuff like that. Unfortunately, it's an area of deprivation, so it's got everything but its own money and had to remain a playground for the rich who want second homes, for when they want to go surfing. :(
