Subterranean fiction

''Subterranean fiction is a subgenre of adventure fiction which focuses on underground settings,
sometimes at the center of the Earth or otherwise deep below the surface.
The genre is based on and has in turn influenced the Hollow Earth theory.

The earliest works in the genre were Enlightenment-era philosophical or allegorical works,
in which the underground setting was often largely incidental. In the late 19th century,
however, more pseudoscientific or proto-science-fictional motifs gained prevalence.
Common themes have included a depiction of the underground world as more primitive
than the surface, either culturally, technologically or biologically, or in some combination thereof.
The former cases usually see the setting used as a venue for sword-and-sorcery fiction,
while the latter often features creatures extinct on the surface, such as dinosaurs,
hominids or other cryptids. A less frequent theme has the underground world much
more technologically advanced than the surface one, typically either as the refugium
of a lost civilization, or (more rarely) as a base for space aliens.

Literature

In Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy poem Inferno, Hell is a vast underground cavern and the narrator travels through the center of the Earth and out the other side.
In the sociologist Gabriel Tarde's only literary work, Underground Man (original French title Fragments d'Histoire Future), Humanity escapes a second apocalyptic ice age by delving under the earth and reforming society with Art as its central value.
In Ludvig Holberg's 1741 novel Nicolai Klimii iter subterraneum (Niels Klim's Underground Travels), Nicolai Klim falls through a cave while spelunking and spends several years living on both a smaller globe within and the inside of the outer shell.
Giacomo Casanova's 1788 Icosaméron is a 5-volume, 1,800-page story of a brother and sister who fall into the Earth and discover the subterranean utopia of the Mégamicres, a race of multicolored, hermaphroditic dwarfs.
In the Middle earth books by J.R.R. Tolkien the kingdom of Angband and its predecessor Utumno are deep underground, under mountains called Ered Engrin; they are home to Orcs, monsters and Morgoth, the Dark Lord. Also, the Dwarves and even elves live underground - underground realms of Moria and Erebor and cities like Nargothrond and Menegroth, play a major role in the stories.
An early science-fiction work called Symzonia: A Voyage of Discovery by a "Captain Adam Seaborn" appeared in print in 1820. In the story, Captain Seaborn leads a group of travelers into the concave inner surface of the Earth. There, they discover an inner continent, which they name Symzonia after John Cleves Symmes, Jr. The story obviously reflected the ideas of Symmes, and some have claimed Symmes as the real author. Other researchers say it deliberately satirized Symmes's ideas, and think they have identified the author as an early American author named Nathaniel Ames (see Lang, Hans-Joachim and Benjamin Lease. "The Authorship of Symzonia: The Case for Nathanial Ames" New England Quarterly, June 1975, page 241–252).
Faddei Bulgarin's short satirical tale "Improbable Tall-Tale, or Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1825) describes three underworld countries: Ignorantia (populated by spiders), Beastland (populated by apes), and Lightonia (populated by humans, with a capital called Utopia).
Edgar Allan Poe used the idea in his 1838 novel The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket. He also touches on it in his short stories "MS. Found in a Bottle" and "The Unparalleled Adventure of One Hans Pfaall."
Although it is often suggested that Jules Verne used the idea of a partially hollow Earth in his 1864 novel, A Journey to the Center of the Earth, his characters actually descend only 87 miles[1] beneath the surface where they find an underground sea occupying a cavern roughly the size of Europe. There is no indication in the novel that Verne intended to suggest that the Earth was in any way hollow, partially or otherwise.
Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was originally titled Alice's Adventures Under Ground.
Edward Bulwer-Lytton's 1871 novel The Coming Race was an account of the Vril-ya, an angelic subterranean master race.
Mary Lane's Mizora (1880–81) combines the hollow-Earth theme with feminism.
James De Mille's novel A Strange Manuscript Found in a Copper Cylinder, published in 1888 but written prior to the author's death in 1880, depicts a subterranean land with inverted values.[2]
Pantaletta: A Romance of Sheheland by Mrs. J. Wood (1882)
George Sand used the idea in her 1884 novel Laura, Voyage dans le Cristal, in which giant crystals could be found in the interior of the Earth.
Interior World, A Romance of Illustration a New Hypothesis of Terrestrial Organization by Washington L. Tower (1885)
William R. Bradshaw's science fiction novel The Goddess of Atvatabar (1892) is a utopian fantasy set within the hollow Earth.
The protofeminist utopia Etidorhpa (1895) by John Uri Lloyd is also set within a hollow Earth.
The concept was mentioned in Wardon Allan Curtis's 1899 short story "The Monster of Lake LaMetrie."
In NEQUA or The Problem of the Ages a visit in a sailing ship is made to Altruria, a society inside the earth. This feminist utopian science fiction novel was published in 1900 in Topeka Kansas. Jack Adams listed as the author, was a pseudonym for A.O Grigsby and Mary P. Lowe, both newspaper publishers.
An underground Nome Kingdom is featured in several of the Oz books by L. Frank Baum, notably the Ozma of Oz (1907), Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz (1908) and Tik-Tok of Oz (1914).
Willis George Emerson's science-fiction novel The Smoky God (1908) recounts the adventures of one Olaf Jansen who traveled into the interior and found an advanced civilization.
Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote adventure stories (beginning with At the Earth's Core in 1914) set in the inner world of Pellucidar including at one point a visit from his character Tarzan. Burroughs's Pellucidar has oceans on the outer surface corresponding to continents on the inner surface and vice versa. Pellucidar is lit by a miniature sun suspended at the center of the hollow sphere, so it is perpetually overhead wherever one is in Pellucidar. The sole exception is the region directly under a tiny geostationary moon of the internal sun; that region as a result is under a perpetual eclipse and is known as the Land of Awful Shadow. This moon has its own plant life and (presumably) animal life, and hence either has its own atmosphere or shares that of Pellucidar
The Russian geologist Vladimir Obruchev uses the concept of the hollow Earth in his 1915 scientific novel Plutonia to take the reader through various geological epochs.
A deliberately tunneled-out Earth occurs in Charles R. Tanner 1930's SF short story "Tumithak of the Corridors".
Morgo the Mighty by Sean O'Larkin was serialized in The Popular Magazine in 1930. It featured the adventures of a Tarzan like character in a network of giant caverns beneath the Himalayas. The caves are ruled by a cowled magician and populated by primitive men, giant intelligent bats, giant warring ants and giant killer chickens.
Tam, Son of the Tiger by Otis Adelbert Kline from 1931 features the adventures of Tam (another Tarzan like character) in a subterranean world beneath Asia.
C. S. Lewis's 1953 novel The Silver Chair (part of The Chronicles of Narnia) takes place partly in Underland, a subterranean kingdom plotting to conquer Narnia. At one point, the Lady of the Green Kirtle attempts to brainwash the protagonists into believing that the world above ground does not exist.
The Third Eye (1956) by Tuesday Lobsang Rampa mentions contact with advanced beings living in the center of the Earth.
The End of the Tunnel (aka The Cave of Cornelius) (1959), by Paul Capon. Four boys in England get trapped in a cave by a landslide, and by following the cave, they encounter a forgotten civilization.
Dark Universe (1961) by Daniel F. Galouye. A post-apocalyptic science fiction novel where to clans live deep underground and are descendants from humans who escaped an old war.
City of the First Time (1975), by G.J. Barrett. British survivors of an atomic holocaust venture downward into the earth through a series of caves and encounter two other races, survivals of previous extinctions.
A Hollow Earth featured in the children's "Choose Your Own Adventure" novel The Underground Kingdom (1983).
The history of the Hollow Earth theory is explored in Umberto Eco's 1988 novel Foucault's Pendulum, alongside a wide range of other pseudo-scientific and conspiracy theories.
Rudy Rucker's novel The Hollow Earth appeared in 1990, and features Edgar Allan Poe and his ideas. Rucker claims in an afterword to have transcribed the novel from a manuscript in the University of Virginia library; the call number given is that of a copy of Symzonia.
The novel Indiana Jones and the Hollow Earth by Max McCoy (1997) expands on the legend of an advanced civilization in the Earth's interior.
The short story "Black as the Pit, From Pole to Pole" by Howard Waldrop and Steven Utley continues the journey of Frankenstein's creature through a hollow Earth.
In Jeff Long's 1999 novel The Descent and its 2007 sequel Deeper, a vast labyrinth of tunnels and passages underlying the Earth is inhabited by a brutal species of once-civilized but now degenerate hominid, Homo Hadalis.
The 2000 novel Abduction by Robin Cook includes the concept of a third world under the sea called "Interterra."
Underland (2002) by Mick Farren has the vampire hero Victor Renquist traveling to a hollow Earth populated by Nazi scientists, subjugated proto-scientific lizard people, and a fungus addicted race of sub-vampires.
The City of Ember (2003) and its sequels by Jeanne DuPrau describe a city built underground to survive a nuclear holocaust.
Against the Day (2006) by Thomas Pynchon makes extensive mention of the Earth's interior as a place to be explored, positing inner-Earth seas. Pynchon's Mason & Dixon also uses the idea of a Hollow Earth as the planet's final holdout for magic against the calculations of the surface's most eminent men of science.
In Geraldine McCaughrean's The White Darkness (2007), the characters undertake a journey to find a hole into the hollow Earth.
John Hodgman's 2008 book More Information Than You Require says the hollow interior of the Earth as the home of the subterranean Molemen. In the center of this Hollow Earth is a small, red sun.
The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins tells the story of a war between the humans and the rats in a location under New York City called the Underland.
The Battle of the Labyrinth, the fourth book in Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, revolves around the protagonists' attempts to navigate the Labyrinth, a confusing, supernatural maze under the United States.
Eoin Colfer's series of Artemis Fowl books focus on crimes committed by or against the Fairy-folk who live beneath the earth's crust in a technologically advanced society.
Tunnels, a series of books by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams, takes place in a hollow Earth with an interior sun, in which multiple civilisations exist within and beneath the crust.
The Dark Elf Trilogy, by R.A. Salvatore was the first of the Forgotten Realms books to describe the underground world of the Dark Elves called The Underdark. This greatly helped popularize underground settings in fantasy RPGs.
Metro 2033 and Metro 2034, by Dmitry Glukhovsky are post-nuclear-apocalyptic novels which describe the last remaining humans fighting to survive in the metro system underneath Moscow with the surface being too irradiated for humans to survive.
Reliquary by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child features an underground civilization of humans beneath Manhattan.

There are lots of novels of Hollow Earth, written by people who knew this to be factual , but didn't want to get into an argument with a majority of people who still believe the fallacy of the Solid Sphere they were taught in school.

All I have placed in this thread are factual, and with scientific backgrounds.

Mythology, Loki in Asgard

ASGARD=HOLLOW EARTH

God of the Week: Loki
01/09/2011: Loki

Loki is an ancient Norse god, known for his adversarial relationship with the other gods. He is responsible the the death of the god Badlr, for which he is bound and shackled.

Loki, in punishment of his misdeeds, is put in chains, like Prometheus who brought fire to men; but he is to be released again at the end of the world. One of his children, Fewrir, himself in a second birth, pursues the moon in the shape of a wolf and threatens to swallow her.

The breaking loose of the wolf and the ultimate [escape] of Loki from his chains, who at the time of the Ragnarökr will war against and overcome the gods, is in striking accord with the release of the chained Prometheus, by whom Zeus is then to be overthrown.

We have been here for eons, and yet have explored only a fraction of our galaxy…and there
are billions of galaxies in billions of universes just waiting for us all to visit. Your life will
forevermore be filled with excitement, and you’ll never again find yourself saying: “what
shall we do today?.”

Portal to the Sun
We are attired in our finest clothing to meet with you this morning. The sun is shining over-
head, and we are standing on the steps of the Library of Porthologos about to enter this vast
portal, and take you inside with us. Walk with us now, as we surround your etheric body with
our light and love.

We usher you into our great entrance hall, that is lined in beauty and light
and that sings to our souls. We will walk but a few steps to one of the moving staircases that
will take us to a portal where we can witness the vastness of our galaxy. It is the galactic portal
to this galaxy, and from there we can choose the destination where we desire to go. It is the
fastest means of travel. No ticket or luggage is required, just our hearts intention. So here we
go.

We stand beside the entrance to this portal, where we form our destination desire, before
entering. Are you ready? Let’s go to the center of our Sun, where you have many friends and
lineage waiting for you. Ok?

Let’s step in now, focus on the Sun, and we are there. It is that
quick. See around you the brilliant light and feel the love that permeates your body and soul,
and hear the choruses of angelic music. Sananda is here, and he greets you in his loving em-
brace and covers you with his light. We start walking now toward the community above the
horizon, just a few steps away.

It is nestled in hues of color and warmth and the houses are all
different shades of vibrant colors. People are all outdoors, tending their fields and visiting
and just lounging around. All are receptive and joyous to greet us, and knew of our intention
of coming. These beings have all made their passage from Earth, and given the opportunity to
live here on the Sun for as long as they like.

They passed their earthly tests with flying colors,
and earned this opportunity to reside here in the great love and light of our Sun, which is a
planet also, but a planet of such great light that it lights your whole solar system. This is what
the Earth is turning into.

It is turning into a great sun star that in turn will give life and light
and warmth to other planets in its solar system. And it, too, has earned this. As the Earth
moves up in consciousness, she will ignite into a blazing sun star, and take all those souls who
are attuned to her, with her.

The other souls will be taken to another planet to continue along
in their evolution, until they too, reach such states of light, that they, too, will have this oppor-
tunity to relocate into a higher frequency realm.

So our visit is about over. We now walk back to the portal and focus on returning to the Li-
brary of Porthologos, where we now again are standing on the steps. We all hug you goodbye,
and thank you with the fullness of our hearts for making this journey with us today. It is
indeed a grand celebration when we meet with you for these sessions. We bid you adieu

Hollow Earth messages.

Classical Mythology

Hades Takes a Wife: Persephone
Classical Mythology
What the Hell? Adventures in the Underworld
Hades Takes a Wife: Persephone
The Cunning Rogue: Sisyphus
The Not-So-Heavenly Host: Tantalus
Undying Love: Orpheus
The first living visitor to the Underworld, though an unwilling one, was the goddess Persephone. The only daughter of Zeus and Demeter (the goddess of grain, agriculture, and fertility), Persephone was an innocent maiden, a virgin who loved to play in the fields where eternal springtime reigned.

But Hades had other plans for Persephone: He would steal her innocence and virginity and turn her into the dreaded goddess of the Underworld.

Where Have All the Flowers Gone?
Hades, god of the Underworld, fell in love with Persephone and wanted her as his bride. His brother Zeus consented to the marriage—or at least refused to oppose it. Yet he warned Hades that Demeter would never approve this coupling, for she would not want her daughter spirited off to a sunless world. At Zeus's suggestion—or with his tacit understanding—Hades resolved to abduct the maiden.

Persephone was gathering flowers one day on a plain in Sicily. Hades suddenly appeared, thundering across the plain in his four-horse chariot. The god swooped down upon Persephone, scooped her up with one arm, and literally and figuratively deflowered her—leaving the plain scattered with blossoms of every color.

The appearance, abduction, and disappearance happened so swiftly that none of Persephone's companions witnessed the kidnapping. And though she called out to them—and plaintively called for her mother—no one heard her pleas. The earth opened up before Hades' chariot and the god drove the jet-black horses down into the chasm. As Hades and Persephone disappeared into the depths, the hole closed up behind them.

The Long Winter of Her Discontent
Demeter soon came to collect her daughter, but could not find a trace of Persephone. Distraught and desperate, Demeter searched high and low for her daughter. She traveled to the farthest corners of the earth, searching for nine full days and nights without ever stopping to eat, drink, bathe, or rest. Demeter was in a fury. She destroyed lands, crops, and livestock as she bewailed the loss of her daughter.

She threatened to make the earth barren forever and thus destroy all of humankind if she did not find Persephone.

The More Things Change ...
The painful separation of mother and daughter has been a common theme in mythology from Greece to Indonesia. Carl Jung, the pioneering psychologist and scholar of mythology, saw in such tales the universal pain of this ordeal—for example, when a daughter marries. Recognizing this universality gave rise to Jung's notion of “archetypes.”
Finally, on the tenth day, the goddess Hecate told Demeter that Persephone had been carried away, but she did not know by whom. The two goddesses went to Helius, the god of the sun, who saw everything that happened on Earth. Helius did tell her what had happened, but also tried to persuade Demeter that Hades—as Zeus's brother and ruler of one third of the universe—was not an unfit husband for Persephone.

Demeter refused to accept Hades as a suitable mate for her precious daughter. Enraged by the news of Persephone's abduction (and Zeus's possible complicity), she refused to return to Mount Olympus. Instead she roamed the earth in the guise of a mortal, forbidding the trees to bear fruit and the earth to nurture vegetables and herbs.

After a full year of famine had plagued the earth, Zeus realized that if he allowed Demeter to persist, all of humankind would starve—leaving no one to honor and make offerings to the gods. Zeus sent a parade of gods and goddesses to Demeter to beg her to come back to Olympus and to restore fertility to the earth.

But Demeter refused to budge until her daughter stood by her side. Zeus had no choice: He relented, promising to bring Persephone back to her mother.

The Renewal of Spring
Hermes, summoned by Zeus, raced down to Hades to fetch Persephone. Hades shrugged compliantly and agreed to let her go. Persephone had not eaten a single thing—whether from sorrow, loss of appetite, or stubbornness—since her arrival in the Underworld. But before she left, Hades urged Persephone to appease her terrible hunger by eating a single pomegranate seed. Sadly, this apparent act of kindness was a trick: Anyone who tastes the food of Hades must remain in the Underworld.

Mythed by a Mile
In another version of this story, Persephone innocently plucked some fruit from the trees in the gardens of Hades herself. To fight off her terrible hunger, she secretly ate seven pomegranate seeds. But a gardener of Hades had seen her and ratted her out to Hades. Persephone punished him for his indiscretion by turning him into a screech owl or Demeter punished him by burying him under an enormous rock.
The deed having been done, Rhea—the mother of Zeus, Demeter, and Hades—proposed a compromise that her children reluctantly accepted: Since Persephone had eaten there, she had to dwell at least part of every year in the Underworld. Rhea suggested that Persephone spend six months (or, according to some, three or four months) as Queen of the Underworld and the rest of the year with Demeter.

After agreeing to the deal, Demeter restored Earth's fertility and returned to Olympus with Persephone. But when the time came for Persephone to return to the Underworld, the earth became colder and less fertile until her reemergence months later.

Since the abduction of Persephone, spring and summer have given way to autumn and winter, and the earth's fertility has followed the progression of seasons. In the fall, seeds—like Persephone herself—were buried underground. But in the spring, Persephone and the earth's crops came out into the sun once more.

Queen of the Underworld
Although she spent only half of her life in the Underworld, little is known of Persephone's life above ground after her abduction. Below ground, however, she was dreaded forever afterward as the goddess of the Underworld. So feared was she that mortals often invoked her name in curses.

Despite her forbidding image, Queen Persephone did sometimes show a capacity for mercy. When Alcestis offered her own life in place of her dying husband's, Persephone sent her back from the Underworld and spared them both. Persephone also exhibited strong maternal feelings when Aphrodite entrusted her with safeguarding the infant Adonis (see The A Team: Olympians All). Indeed, she became so enamored of the baby that she refused to give him back. (Zeus ultimately ruled that Adonis would spend one third of his life with Persephone, one third with Aphrodite, and one third with whomever he wished.)

Read All About It
An alternative version of the story of Alcestis and her husband Admetus can be found in Alcestis by Euripides. In this drama, Heracles restores Alcestis to life by wrestling with Thanatos (Death).
Persephone had no children by Hades, but she remained faithful to him—and saw that he remained faithful to her. When Hades attempted to seduce Minthe, Persephone transformed the nymph into a fragrant mint plant. Similarly, she thwarted her husband's attempt to seduce Leuce by changing that nymph into a white poplar tree.

Hades returned the favor when Peirithous journeyed to the Underworld in an attempt to abduct Persephone and bring her back to Earth as his bride. When Peirithous arrived with his friend Theseus and announced his intentions, Hades graciously offered the visitors a seat. The two sat down in the Chairs of Forgetfulness: stone seats that enveloped and intertwined with their naked flesh. Though Theseus was later freed by Heracles (see The Labors of Heracles), Peirithous remained in the Underworld forever.

[bThe following contents and research material is from Dr. Raymond Bernard’s book, “The Hollow Earth.”

The word “Agharta” is of Buddhist origin. It refers to the subterranean World or Empire in whose existence all true Buddhists fervently believe. They also believe that this subterranean World has millions of inhabitants and many cities, all under the supreme domination of the subterranean world capital, Shamballah, where dwells the Supreme Ruler of this Empire, known in the Orient as the King of the World. It is believed that he gave his orders to the Dalai Lama of Tibet, who was terrestrial representative, his messages being transmitted through certain secret tunnels connecting the Subterranean World with Tibet. Similar mysterious tunnels honeycomb Brazil. Brazil in the West and Tibet in the East seem to be the two parts of the earth where contact between the Subterranean World and the surface world may be most easily achieved, due to the existence of these tunnels.

The famous Russian artist, philosopher and explorer, Nicolas Roerich, who traveled extensively in the Far East, claimed that Lhasa, capital of Tibet, was connected by a tunnel with Shamballah, capital of the Subterranean empire of Agharta. The entrance of this tunnel was guarded by lamas who were sworn to keep its actual whereabouts a secret from outsiders, by order of the Dalai Lama. A similar tunnel was believed to connect the secret chambers at the base of the Pyramid of Gizeh with the Subterranean World, by which the pharaohs established contact with the gods or supermen of the underworld.

The various gigantic statues of early Egyptian gods and kings, as those of Buddha found throughout the Orient, represent subterranean supermen who came to the surface too help the human race. They are generally represented as sexless. They are emissaries of Agharta, the subterranean paradise which it is the goal of all true Buddhists to reach.

Buddhist traditions state that Agharta was first colonized many thousands of years ago when a holy man led a tribe which disappeared underground. The gypsies are supposed to come from Agharta, which explains their restlessness on the earth’s surface and their continual travels to regain their lost home. This reminds one of Noah, who was really an Atlantean, who saved a worthy group prior to the coming of the flood that submerged Atlantis.

It is believed that he brought his group to the high plateau of Brazil where they settled in subterranean cities, connected with the surface by tunnel, in order to escape from poisoning by the radioactive fallout produced by the nuclear war the Atlanteans fought, which brought on the flood that submerged their continent.

The subterranean civilization, of Agharta is believed to represent a continuation of Atlantean civilization, which, having learned the lesson of the futility of war, remained in a state of peace ever since, making stupendous scientific progress uninterrupted by the setbacks of recurrent wards, as our surface civilization has been. Their civilization is many thousands of years old (as Atlantis sunk about 11,500 years ago), while ours is very young, only a few centuries old.

Subterranean scientists are able to wield forces of nature we know nothing about, as demonstrated by their flying saucers, which are operated by a new, unknown force of energy, more subtle than atomic energy. Ossendowski claims that the Empire of Agharta consists of a network of subterranean cities connected with each other by tunnels through which vehicles pass at tremendous speed, both under land and under the ocean.

These people live under the benign reign of a world government headed by the King of the World. They represent descendants of the lost continents of Lumeria and Atlantis, as well as the original perfect race of Hyperboreans, the race of gods.
During various epochs of history, the Aghartan superman of gods came to the surface to teach the human race and save it from wars, catastrophes and destruction. The coming of flying saucers soon after the first atomic explosion in Hiroshima represents another such visitation, but this time the gods themselves did not appear among men, but they sent their emissaries.

The Indian epic, “Ramayana” describes Rama as such an emissary from Agharta coming on an aerial vehicle, which was probably a flying saucer. A Chinese tradition speaks of divine teachers coming on aerial vehicles. Similarly, the founder of the Inca Dynasty, Manco Copac, came the same way.

One of the greatest of Aghartan teachers in America was Quetzalcoatl, the great prophet of the Mayas and Aztecs and of the Indians of the America in general, both in South and North America. That he was a stranger among them, coming from a different race (Atlantean) is indicated by his being fair, while they were dark, his being tall, while they were short; his being bearded, while they were beardless. He was reverenced as a savior by the Indians of Mexico, Yucatan and Guatemala long before the coming of the white man. The Aztecs called him “God of Abundance” and the “Morning Star.” His name Quetzalcoatl means “Feathered Serpent,” meaning a teacher of wisdom (symbolized by the serpent) who flies. He was given this name because he came on an aerial vehicle, which appears to have been a flying saucer. He probably came from the Subterranean World, because after he remained sometime with the Indians, he mysteriously vanished the same way as he came; and was believed to have returned to the Subterranean World from which he came.

Quetzalcoatl is described as having been “a man of good appearance and grave countenance, with a white skin and beard, and dressed in a long flowing white garment. He was also called Huemac, because of his great goodness and continence. He taught the Indians the way of virtue and tried to save them from vice by giving them laws and counsel to restrain them from lust and to practice chastity. He taught pacifism and condemned violence in all forms. He instituted a vegetarian diet, with corn as a principal food, and taught fasting and body hygiene. Accordingly to the South American archaeologists, Harold Wilkins, Quetzalcoatl was also the spiritual teacher of the ancient inhabitants of Brazil.

After remaining some time with the Indians, and seeing how little they cared to follow his teachings, except his recommendation to plant and eat corn as a basic food in place of meat, Quetzalcoatl departed, telling them that some day he would return. That this “visitor from heaven” left the same way in which he came – on a flying saucer – is indicated by the following facts. When Cortez invaded Mexico, the emperor Montezuma believed that the predicted “return of Quetzalcoatl” had occurred, because a fireball then gyrated over Mexico City, making the people wail and scream, setting the temple of the war god on fire. This fireball was believed to have been the flying saucer on which Quetzalcoatl traveled.

Osiris was another such subterranean god. According to Donnelly, in his book, Atlantis the Antediluvian World”, the gods of the ancient were the rulers of Atlantis and members of a superhuman race which governed the human race. Before the destruction of their continent, which they foresaw, they travelled by flying saucer through the polar opening to the Subterranean World in the Hollow Interior of the earth, where they continued to live ever since.

“The Empire of Agharta,” wrote Ossendowski in his book, Beasts, Men and Gods,” extends through subterranean tunnels to all parts of the world.” In this book he speaks of a vast network of tunnels constructed by a prehistoric race of remotest antiquity, which passed under both oceans and continents, through which swift-moving vehicles traveled. The empire of which Ossendowski speaks and concerning which he had learned about from lamas in the Far East, during his travels in Mongolia, obviously consists of a subterranean world, one more superficial and one in the center of the earth.

Huguenin, whose book on flying saucers and the subterranean world we previously mentioned, believes that there exist many subterranean cities at various depths, between the earth’s crust and its hollow interior. Concerning the inhabitants of these subterranean cities, he writes:

“This other humanity has reached an elevated grade of civilization, economic and social organization and cultural and scientific progress, in comparison with which the humanity which lives on the earth’s surface are a race of barbarians.” In his book, Huguenin shows a diagram of the earth’s interior, showing various subterranean cities at various depths, connecting with each other by tunnels. He describes these cities as existing in immense cavities in the earth. The city of Shamballah, the capital of the subterranean empire, he portrays as existing at the center of the earth, in its hollow interior, rather than inside its solid crust. Ossendowski writes:

All the subterranean caverns of America are inhabited by an ancient people who disappeared from the world. These people and the subterranean regions where they dwell are under the supreme authority of the King of the World. Both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans were once the home of vast continents which later became submerged; and their inhabitants found refuge in the Subterranean World. The profounder caverns are illuminated by a resplendent light which permits the growing of cereals and other vegetables, and gives the inhabitants a long life span free from disease. In this world exist a large population and many tribes.”

In his book, “The Coming Race,” Bulwer Lytton describes a subterranean civilization far in advance of our own, which existed in a large cavity in the earth, connected with the surface by a tunnel. This immense cavity was illuminated by a strange light which did not require lamps to produce it, and appeared to result from an electrification of the atmosphere. This light supported plant life and enabled the subterranean people to grow their own foods. The inhabitants of the Utopian described by Lytton were vegetarians. They had certain apparatuses by which, instead of walking, they flew. They were free from disease and a perfect social organization so that each received what he needed, without exploitation of one by another.

It is claimed that the earth’s crust is honeycombed by a network of tunnels passing under the ocean from continent and leading to subterranean cities in large cavities in the earth. These tunnels are especially abundant in South America, especially under Brazil, which was the chief center of Atlantean colonization, and we may believe they were constructed by the Atlanteans. Most famous of these tunnels is the “Roadway of the Incas” which stretches for several hundred miles south of Lima, Peru, and passes under Cuzco, Tiahuanaco and the Three Peaks proceeding to the Atacambo Desert. Another branch opens in Africa, Chile, visited by Madame Blavatsky.

It is claimed that the Incas used these tunnels to escape from the Spanish conquerors and the Inquisition, when empire armies entered them, carrying with them their gold and treasures on the backs of Llamas, which they did when the Spanish Conquerors first came. Their mysterious disappearance at this time, leaving only the race of Quetchua Indians behind, is also explained by entering these tunnels. It is explained that when Atahualpa, the last of the Inca Kings, who was brutally murdered by Pizarro, the gold that was being carried to his ransom on a train of 11,000 packed Llamas, found refuge in these tunnels. It is claimed that these tunnels had a form of artificial lighting and were built by the race that had constructed Tiahuanco long before the first Inca appeared in Peru. Since the Incas who entered these tunnels to escape from the Spaniards were never seen since and disappeared from the earth’s surface, it is probable that they continued to live in illuminated subterranean cities to which these tunnels lead.

These mysterious tunnels, an enigma to archaeologists, exist in greatest number under Brazil, where they open on the surface in various places. The most famous is in the Roncador Mountains of northeast Matto Crosso to where Colonel Fawcett was heading when last seen. It is claimed that the Atlantean city for which he searched was not the ruins of a dead city on the surface but a subterranean city with still living Atlanteans as its inhabitants, and that he and his son Jack reached this city and are still living therein. This is the belief of Professor de Souza, Commander Strauss and O.C. Huguenin.

The Roncador tunnel opening is guarded by fierce Chavantes Indians who kill anyone who dares to enter uninvited and who might molest the subterranean dwellers whom they respect and revere. The Murcego Indians also guard these secret tunnel openings leading to subterranean cities in the Roncador Mountain region of Motto Grosso. We quote a letter to the author from an American, named Carl Huni, who lived many years in Matto Grosso and made a special study of this subject:

“The entrance to the caverns is guarded by Murcego Indians, who are a dark skinned, undersized race of great physical strength. Their sense of smell is more developed than that of the best bloodhounds. Even if they approve of you and let you enter the caverns, I am afraid that you will be lost to the present world, because they guard the secret very carefully and may not let those who enter leave.”

The Murcego Indians live in caverns and go out at night into the surrounding jungles, but they have no contact with the subterranean dwellers below, inhabiting a subterranean city in which they form a self-contained community and have a considerable population. It is believed that the subterranean cities they inhabit were first constructed by the Atlanteans. One thing is certain, that no radio active fallout can reach them. No one knows whether those who live in these ancient Atlantean subterranean cities are Atlanteans themselves or others who settled there after the original builders were gone. The name of the mountain range where these Atlantean subterranean cities exist is Roncador in northeast Matto Grosso. If you go in quest of these subterranean cities, you take your life in your own hands as you may never be heard of again, like Colonel Fawcett.

“When I was in Brazil I heard a lot about the underground caverns and subterranean cities. They are, however, a long way from Cuiaba. They are near the Rio Araguaya, which empties into the Amazon. They are to be northeast of Cuiaba at the foot of the tremendously long mountain range named Roncador. I desisted to investigate further because I heard that the Murcego Indians jealously guard the entrance to the tunnels from people who are not sufficiently developed, because they do not want trouble. In the first place, they do not want anyone who is still enmeshed in commercialism and who has a desire for money.”

“I know that a good part of the immigrants who helped in the uprising of General Isidro Lopez back in 1028 disappeared into these mountains and were never seen again. It was under the reign of Dr. Benavides who bombarded Sao Paulo for four weeks. Finally they made a truce for three days and let the 4,000 troops, who were mainly Germans and Hungarians, to go out of town. About 3,000 of them went to Acre in the northwestern part of Brazil and about 1,000 disappeared in the caverns. I heard the story consistently. If I remember the place where they disappeared, it was in the southern end of Bananal Island (near Roncador Mountains).”

“There are also caverns in Asia and Tibet that travelers mentioned. But as far as I know, in Brazil are the biggest ones and they exist at three different levels. I am sure I would get permission if I wanted to join them and they would accept me as one of theirs. I know they use no money at all, and their society is organized on a strictly democratic basis. People do not become aged and live in everlasting harmony.”

This subterranean Utopia mentioned by Mr. Huni (now residing in New York) seems to resemble greatly the one described by Bulwer Lytton in his book, “The Coming Race.” Lytton was a Rosicrucian and probably based his novel on occult information concerning existing subterranean cities.

The ruins of a number of Atlantean cities were found in northern Matto Grosso and the Amazon territory, indicating that Atlanteans once colonized this country. Some years ago an English School teacher, hearing rumors of a lost Atlantean City on a high plateau in this region went to find it. He did, but the hardships of the journey cost him his life. Before he died he sent a carrier pigeon a note describing a magnificent city he discovered whose streets were lined with gold statues.

If the Atlanteans once colonized Brazil and constructed cities in Matto Grosso on its surface, why did they build subterranean cities here? It could not have been to escape the deluge that submerged Atlantis and outlying areas, because Matto Grosso is a high plateau where floodwaters could not have reached. The South American archeologist, Harold Wilkins, offers another theory: THAT THE SUBTERRANEAN CITIES WERE BUILT TO ESCAPE THE RADIO ACTIVE FALLOUT RESULTING FROM A NUCLEAR WAR THE ATLANTEANS FOUGHT. This seems to be a very reasonable explanation, for otherwise there would be no reason to undergo the great labor of excavating the earth and constructing subterranean cities when the Atlanteans already had magnificent cities on the earth’s surface.

If and when we are endangered by a nuclear war, we too, will have to find refuge inside the earth and dwell there in illuminated subterranean cities and produce out foods under this light. It would be of course be much easier to join existing subterranean cities constructed by the Atlanteans thousands of years ago, who vastly surpassed us in engineering skill, than to construct our own. If friendly contact with the subterranean dwellers could be established, when war comes, or even before, when radioactive fallout increases beyond the danger point and menaces our survival, it would be our advantage to contact these subterranean cities, and if we were admitted, to establish residence in them.

There is no old age in Agharta and no death. It is a society in which everyone is young looking, even if many centuries or even thousands of years of age. This seems incredible to surface dwellers exposed to the harmful effects of solar radiation and the autointoxication of food poisoning from a wrong diet. The symptoms of old age are not the natural result of the passage of time, nor an assumed aging process, but to adverse biological conditions and habits. Senility is a disease; and since Agharthans are free from disease, they do no grow old.

The sexes live apart in Agharta and marriage does not exist. Each is free and independent and one sex does not depend on the other for its economic support. Reproduction is by parthenogenesis; and the virgin-born children are all female. In this matriarchal civilization the female is considered the normal, perfect and superior sex. Children are raised collectively by special teachers and not by private families. They are supported by the community. So are their mothers.

The superior scientific culture of the subterranean people of which their flying saucers are an evident example, is the result of superior brain development and more energetic brains. This is due to the fact that their vital energies flow up to their brain, rather than being dissipated through the sexual channel as among so-called “civilized” surface races. In fact, sex indulgence is completely out of their lives, because of their fruit diet, their endocrine systems are in a state of perfect balance and harmonious functioning, as in little children, and are not stimulated to abnormal activity by metabolic toxins, as produced by such foods as meat, fowl, fish and eggs and by such aphrodisiacs as salt, pepper, coffee and alcohol. By keeping their blood-stream pure and free from toxins, the subterranean people are able to live in complete continence, conserving all vital energies and converting them into superior brain power. Their superior scientific achievements result from the fact that their brains are superior to ours in intellectual development. They are the race that created the flying saucers.

History of H.E.R.S.
The Formation of the I.S.C.E. under Ritter von X

The Hollow Research Society (H.E.R.S.) was formally known as the International Society for a Complete Earth (I.S.C.E.) and was originally founded in 1977 by Captain Ritter von X (an anonymous name at his request). Its members currently lists over 1,000 individuals and encompasses nine international groups.

Von X was born in Berlin, Germany, joined the Kriegsmarine (German Navy) in 1943, and was assigned to the Reich Undersea Boat Service, UBoat Flotilla Group, Danzig. He served aboard the U530 until 1945 when his ship formally surrendered at Mar del Plata, Argentina. That year von X participated in a voyage to Antarctica and served as an intermediary in the recovery of the Holy Lance — (the spear that pierced the side of Jesus Christ) in 1969. In 1979, he assisted in the planning of the Hartmann Expedition which journeyed to Antarctica to recover Adolf’s Hitler’s secret treasure.

He is a knight of the Holy Order of Knights and the Sacred Lance. This order has dedicated itself to the course of righteousness directed by the influence of the Holy Lance which represents the power of God. He states that the time will come when the knights will make themselves known to the world. He is the author of The Return of the Holy Lance, Adolf Hitler and the Secrets of the Holy Lance, and Hitler’s Ashes. These books can be purchased from H.E.R.S. Book Shop.

Von X is a citizen and lives in America. His military decorations include the Undersea Boat War badge (comparable to the U.S. Infantry Combat Badge), the Reich Eagle Award, the Iron Cross, and the Knight’s Cross. The former director of the I.S.C.E. has seen the inner world as the home of the Nordic race or Arrianni. In the seventies, the I.S.C.E. was based in the mid-west. The Society used as its emblem the crest of the Thule Society: a sword in front of a swastika ringed in oak leaves. He said the I.S.C.E.’s goal was to enter one of the polar openings and establish contact with the Arianni, the “tall, blond, blue-eyed super race” that rules the inner world. The Arianni, he wrote, spoke “a language very much like German” lived in “cities built of shimmering crystal,” and used their saucers called “flugelrods” (winged wheel) to patrol the skies of the surface world and keep an eye on us.

In a 1978 interview with newspaper columnist, Bob Green, he claimed that his organization’s use of the swastika was a “Nordic Symbol,” and had nothing to do with the Nazis. “As you probably realize”, he told Green, “the swastika has been known in various cultures for thousands of years.” He also said that “people will call us crackpots, will try to ridicule us and even stop us. But we are not crackpots, We are a small group, made up of physicians, engineers, and pilots.”

The I.S.C.E. Comes Under New Leadership

In 1992, Danny L. Weiss assumed the directorship of the I.S.C.E. He came in contact with former I.S.C.E. director in 1984. “I’ve been in correspondence with the Ritter for over ten years. I gained a great deal of respect for his knowledge, instruction, and unusual experiences regarding the knowledge of the Hollow Earth,” says Weiss.

A nice post in Infinite Love Forum BY Cloudgazer,

I have a few things to say. LOL when chandi said "we should get the nobel prize for this interview" when you guys were talking about al gore getting the nobel peace prize, hehee.

also i had a dream about going to the underworld (a little while back), and a god (with bright red hair and a bright red beard, so i think it was a thunder god, from what i've read about a couple thunder gods) led me in there, also he was like my lover. it was awesome. i went there through a cave (the path to the underworld was a thin stream of lava, which didn't burn my feet, and when i got there, it was like i was going home, and i was happy to be back, and everyone else was happy too. there was an entire town in this other world. The place near the entrance of the cave was very magical. there was a pool of water that was somehow magic, cool, dark, deep and pure. and there were pumas that guarded this place, but there was nothing to fear. i also remember that before i actually went into the cave, it was because the whole world was flooding with rain, and it was the only way i could survive. Also before the day that i went into the cave with this god, he was residing at the pool. This was all my dream hehe. it was one of the big ones i've had, where it was a long duration of time.

Underground civilizations link with the 'Hollow Earth Theory'. There are supposedly races that exist in subterranean cities beneath planet Earth. Very often, these dwellers of the world beneath are more technologically advanced than we on the surface. Some believe that UFOs are not from other planets, but are manufactured by strange beings in the interior of the Earth. In the late 17th century, British astronomer Edmund Halley proposed that Earth consists of four concentric spheres and "also suggested that the interior of the Earth was populated with life and lit by a luminous atmosphere. He thought the aurora borealis, or northern lights, was caused by the escape of this gas through a thin crust at the poles." In the early 19th century, an eccentric veteran of the war of 1812 John Symmes promoted the idea of interior concentric spheres so widely that the alleged opening to the inner world was named "Symmes Hole."

Jules Verne wrote Journey to the Center of the Earth in 1864 and Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950), the creator of Martian adventures and Tarzan of the Apes, also wrote novels set in the hollow earth. Legends often ignite the imagination of fiction writers and fiction often ignites the imagination of the pseudoscientist. In 1869, Cyrus Reed Teed, an herbalist and self-proclaimed alchemist, had a vision of a woman who told him that we are living on the inside of the hollow Earth. For nearly forty years, Teed promoted his idea in pamphlets and speeches. He even founded a cult called the Koreshans (Koresh is the Hebrew equivalent of Cyrus)

. In 1906, William Reed published The Phantom of the Poles in which he claimed that nobody had found the north or south poles because they don't exist. Instead, the poles are entrances to the hollow Earth. In 1913, Marshall B. Gardner privately published Journey to the Earth's Interior in which he rejected the notion of concentric spheres but swore that inside the hollow earth was a sun 600 miles in diameter. Gardner, too, claimed that there were huge holes a thousand mile wide at the poles...
