Was drummed off a MA forum for saying this.
Any half way competent MMA practitioner will kick the erse of the highest ranked specialist MA practitioner.
Irresepective of discipline.
MMA will always 'win' because it is more flexible and 'craftier' that any purist MA form.

You were probably drummed off for being a twerp, who would fight in MMA as a purist martial artist? You might aswell say that lee chong wei would never beat Roger Federer at Tennis, it is a pointless postulation, just like most of your posts :)

Saying that :)

A pure wrestler has the best chance as a purist discipline against all of the arts of MMA.
It was always going to happen!!

Depends on the wrestling style ?
Maybe Graeco-Roman Olympic style wrestling could be effective close in on holds.
Turkish style wrestling would be shit , too oily!
Thing is though if a wrestler is getting pummelled by a MMA dude and can't get the dude locked into a hold.. Basically, that wrestler be fecked.

Aye well you seem to know that of which you speak Wolfy.
I was referring to a wrestler ( Olympic standard code) fighting a MMA dude.
IMO that wrestler would be toast.
As you can't seem to discuss without snide swiping, I'll leave you to it.

I know what you were referring to, I was just saying a purist wrestler would have the best chance against an MMA fighter.

But again, it would never happen and a pointless postulation, and as I say you seem to like them :)

Any MMA or kickboxing fans on the forum..?

In the coming months our champion Alistair Overeem (Dutch/Jamaican) will go for the UFC title.

If he wins, he has won it all: K-1, Pride, Strikeforce, Dream and UFC which would be incredible.
K-1 was thé kickboxing tournament back in the day. Pride were crazy tournaments, as it was allowed to kick the opponent to the head
on the ground, which was called the 'soccer kick'... it's forbidden now. And UFC is the most reknown MMA tournament in the world atm.

He's actually got a very nice documentary about him on his own website, which follows him on foot: www.alistairovereem.com/docu

Man fuck that cheating piece of shit Alistair Overeem. When Brock Lesnar came back from his diverticulitis surgery of having 12 feet of his colon removed he had to fight Alistair Overeem who's testosterone was 20x what it should be. Overeem went straight to kicking Brock's surgically repaired stomach causing Lesnar to take a knee and stop the match. After the test for steroids came back positive Alistair had to pay Brock via lawsuit. It's something UFC never talks about but you can read about it on MMA forums like Sherdog ect...

bleacherreport.com/articles/1133417-brock-lesnars-ufc-141-loss-to-alistair-overeem-should-be-overturned

sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=ki-iole_alistair_overeem_failed_test_dana_white_040412

Well Brock is fighting again in the UFC at 200 against MArk hunt, a re match would be interesting :)

Mark Hunt is a beast.

I don't need google, not that it matters but I have every UFC recorded since UFC 76, you could say I am a bit Nerdy with it, same with boxing, that is why your "google" opinions stand out like a sore thumb ;)

What's up? did you want to be included in Phiz's "real man" comment.

Unfortunately, you are in druids camp, hence not a proper bloke, unlucky druid 2 hahahahaha

Ho, ho, ho. Touche, sir. You really got me there.

You could have had every UFC event since the first one on vhs/dvd and it still wouldn't make you knowledgeable if all you were focusing on was their athleticism, or some other single aspect of the arts displayed. You might be extremely knowledgeable, but your comments about Bisping not warranting a title shot show you aren't entirely impartial. Carry on trying to diminish his achievements tho', if it makes you feel better about your analytical abilities.

He didn't on paper though, he wasn't the highest ranked contender, that is how it should work in the real world.

But due to circumstances, he got it and took it and he deserves it.

I do enjoy the analytical side of it, I made quite a bit of money on the Rousey Holm fight, the amateurs all said Holm Didn't stand a chance and bet on Rousey, madness!! Holm was a 19 time world boxing and Kick boxing champion, at one point she was 9-1 underdog!!! Crazy,.....

Most fights you cannot analyse though, it is that close and anything can happen, that's what makes it so exciting. :)

Brock barely survived against Carwin. If Hunt lands clean on him he's going straight back into retirement.

ps. Rousey has always been crazily over-rated, considering the lack of depth in the women's pool, and nobody should have been surprised at Holm taking her apart.

First time his chin was tested by a serious heavy puncher, he survived it and came back to win... Beast....

She wasn't overrated, She beat Tait twice, who is now the champ after beating Holm, she is a world class Olympic Judoka and that was her first loss, to say Cat Zigano, Beth Corriea and Meisha Tate were not depth again shows your lack of knowledge.

Go back to raggedy rock hahahahaha

O come on... like if Brock Lesnar hasn't been on PED's, coming from WWE :D

And once someone gets into the octagon, one should be in full-health again, as they wouldn't get permission if the doctors wouldn't agree.
The kick Overeem throws out in that gif picture, lands RIGHT on his liver (which is placed on the right side of the body, partially behind the ribs) which is an instant KO.

Don't know if you ever had a punch or kick on the liver, but trust me... you will go down and lay curled up on the floor like you've just been reborn. :chuckle:

Being a world class olympic judoka doesn't make her a world class mma fighter. What you said just proves that styles make fights.

Keep trying to make this a silly points scoring contest, you bell-end. It's impossible to even have a mma discussion on here without yiou being a snarky, know-it-all twat.

Brock is easily by far the greatest athlete in UFC / MMA history but he's a wrestler not a trained fighter.

He won the UFC championship without any real MMA training just on his athleticism alone.

In WWE he is the best thing since Hogan in the 80's.

That's because it does. :)

MA = Martial Art, which only focusses on 1 style.
MMA = Mixed Martial Arts focusses on several MA's.

Most MA's are standup or ground (grappling) only
MMA is both, so one get to know best of both worlds.

Let's say one puts up Mike Tyson (hardest hitting, best boxer ever imo) vs Fedor Emelianenko... well, Fedor would just take him to the ground and it's game-over for Tyson. Same goes other way around, a wrestler won't know how to throw a punch or kick, so in the standup he would lose easily.

You mentioned upthread that you did some sparring, flare - do you train to compete as a sportsman, or do you train for health+self-defence reasons?

I never said it did, I was just pointing out that she wasn't overrated, she is a world class fighter, her boxing destruction of Betch correra was devastating!!! if anything Holm was totally underrated.

That guy's got a chin like a reinforced concrete wall. I've seen him take hits in the K-1 which would leave no normal human being standing. :D

Prime Mike Tyson is so fast that when Fedor goes for the take down he would get knocked the fuck out via uppercut.
