I started this thread to illustrate how prevalent this symbolism is to this day!

Basically its everywhere, so I will be posting images old, and new, going back to sumer.

Horus

Horus is one of the oldest and most significant deities in ancient Egyptian religion, who was worshipped from at least the late Predynastic period through to Greco-Roman times. Different forms of Horus are recorded in history and these are treated as distinct gods by Egyptologists.

He was most often depicted as a falcon, most likely a lanner or peregrine, or as a man with a falcon head.

Horus, (Louvre Museum), 'Shen rings' in his grasp

Horus was often the ancient Egyptians' national patron god. He was usually depicted as a falcon-headed man wearing the pschent, or a red and white crown, as a symbol of kingship over the entire kingdom of Egypt.

Horus served many functions in the Egyptian pantheon, most notably being the god of the Sky, god of War and god of Protection.

Sky god

Since Horus was said to be the sky, he was considered to also contain the sun and moon. It became said that the sun was his right eye and the moon his left, and that they traversed the sky when he, a falcon, flew across it.

Later, the reason that the moon was not as bright as the sun was explained by a tale, known as the contestings of Horus and Set, originating as a metaphor for the conquest of Upper Egypt by Lower Egypt in about 3000 BC. In this tale, it was said that Set, the patron of Upper Egypt, and Horus, the patron of Lower Egypt, had battled for Egypt brutally, with neither side victorious, until eventually the gods sided with Horus (see below).

As Horus was the ultimate victor he became known as Harsiesis, Heru-ur or Har-Wer (ḥr.w wr 'Horus the Great'), but more usually translated as Horus the Elder. In the struggle Set had lost a testicle, explaining why the desert, which Set represented, is infertile.

Horus' left eye had also been gouged out, which explained why the moon, which it represented, was so weak compared to the sun.

The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection and royal power from deities, in this case from Horus or Ra. The symbol is seen on images of Horus' mother, Isis, and on other deities associated with her.

Solar deity

A solar deity (also sun god/dess) is a sky deity who represents the Sun, or an aspect of it, usually by its perceived power and strength. Solar deities and sun worship can be found throughout most of recorded history in various forms.

The Neolithic concept of a solar barge, the sun as traversing the sky in a boat, is found in the later myths of ancient Egypt, with Ra and Horus.

The winged sun was an ancient (3rd millennium BC) symbol of Horus, later identified with Ra

During the Roman Empire, a festival of the birth of the Unconquered Sun (or Dies Natalis Solis Invicti) was celebrated on the winter solstice — the "rebirth" of the sun. In Germanic mythology this is Sol, in Vedic Surya, and in Greek Helios (occasionally referred to as Titan) and (sometimes) as Apollo.

Mesopotamian Shamash plays an important role during the Bronze Age, and "my Sun" is eventually used as an address to royalty. Similarly, South American cultures have emphatic Sun worship, see Inti. Svarog is the Slavic god sun and spirit of fire.

During the later periods of Roman history, sun worship gained in importance and ultimately led to what has been called a “solar monotheism.” Nearly all the gods of the period were possessed of solar qualities.

The feast of Sol Invictus (Unconquered Sun) on December 25 was celebrated with great joy, and eventually this date was taken over by the Christians as Christmas, the celebrated birthday of Christ.

Eye of Providence

The Eye of Providence (or the all-seeing eye of God) is a symbol showing an eye often surrounded by rays of light or a glory and usually enclosed by a triangle. It is sometimes interpreted as representing the eye of God watching over humankind (or divine providence). In the modern era, the most notable depiction of the eye is the reverse of the Great Seal of the United States, which appears on the United States one-dollar bill.

Dollar bill: The reverse of the seal on the left features a barren landscape dominated by an unfinished pyramid of 13 steps, topped by the Eye of Providence within a triangle.

The obverse of the seal on the right features a bald eagle, the national bird and symbol of the United States. Above the eagle is a radiant cluster of 13 stars arranged in a six-pointed star.

stylised

Adj. 1. stylised - using artistic forms and conventions to create effects;

contrived by art rather than nature;

^ Remember that definition, as its pertinent to the thread and images/symbolism posted.

They change up ol' Horus a bit they do, in the symbolism :chuckle:

Common themes to look for in some symbolism is a stylized bird with wings outstretched, and some kind of representation of the sun, some kind of circle usually.

EGYPT IN FILM

In the Ancient Egyptian "The Book of the Dead" , Isis is depicted standing on the prow of the Solar Bark with her arms outstretched.

prow (prou). n. 1. Nautical The forward part of a ship's hull; the bow.

The Book of the Dead is the modern name of an ancient Egyptian funerary text, used from the beginning of the New Kingdom (around 1550 BC) to around 50 BC.

The Book of the Dead was placed in the coffin or burial chamber of the deceased.

SOLAR DEITIES

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_deity

A "solar barge" (also "solar bark", "solar barque", "solar boat" and "sun boat") is a mythological representation of the sun riding in a boat.

The "Khufu ship", a 43.6-meter-long vessel that was sealed into a pit in the Giza pyramid complex at the foot of the Great Pyramid of Giza around 2500 BC, is a full-size surviving example which may have fulfilled the symbolic function of a solar barque.

This boat was rediscovered in May 1954 when archeologist Kamal el-Mallakh and inspector Zaki Nur found two ditches sealed off by about 40 blocks weighing 17 to 20 tonnes each. This boat was disassembled into 1,224 pieces and took over 10 years to reassemble. A nearby museum was built to house this boat.

Other sun boats were found in Egypt dating to different pharonic dynasties.

Examples include:

Neolithic petroglyphs which (it has been speculated) show solar barges

The many early Egyptian goddesses who are related as sun deities and the later gods Ra and Horus depicted as riding in a solar barge.

The Nebra sky disk, which (it has been speculated) features a depiction of a solar barge.

Nordic Bronze Age petroglyphs, including those found in Tanumshede often contains barges and sun crosses in different constellations.

Ra in his solar barge

The sun itself also was compared to a wheel, possibly in Proto-Indo-European, Greek hēliou kuklos, Sanskrit suryasya cakram, Anglo-Saxon sunnan hweogul (PIE *swelyosyo kukwelos).

An oddity associated with the Tree of Life is the so-called solar disk or winged disk. When examining the solar winged disk some have a more mechanical appearance. The center seems to have a hub with a rim and wing like projections. It is always in the sky. This web site speculates that this winged disk is a representation for a seraphic transport.

Good thread Novum, once you understand symbolism you can't help but see it everywhere.

My question is, can the symbolism be unravelled to reveal what plans are shared by those who utilise it? It seems to give the game away regarding manufactured mainstream religions having been imposed, but what else can be deduced from it?

Well there are sites and blogs that try and unravel events, music videos and so on. I have no clue if they are accurate or not.

Some of them are batshit crazy!

Others might know more about this.

Any Trekkie staring at this letter in Leonard’s photographs experiences a shock of recognition. It is the same shape made by Mr. Spock’s hand when offering his benediction, “Live long and prosper.” Indeed, a common thread runs through Leonard’s portrayal of Spock and his images of Shekhina. Not a particularly observant Jew, Leonard is nonetheless fascinated by spiritual themes. In Shekhina, he quotes the twentieth century Jesuit priest/scientist, Teillhard de Chardin: “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.”

New UAE coat of arms approved
Gulf News Report Published: 20:02 March 23, 2008

Abu Dhabi: The Cabinet yesterday endorsed the new official coat of arms of the UAE, approved by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, WAM reported.
Federal and local authorities should start using the new emblem from May 1 with a final deadline of December 31, the Cabinet said.

It must be used on documents such as passports and driving licences when they get renewed.

Note again its an eagle type bird with a stylised sun...

^ Thats quite a serious effort at making a Palm Tree. :hahano:

(and the circle around it...sun perhaps?)

From ancient Greek times the phoenix has been associated with the bennu (benu) bird of Egyptian mythology. It is said that this identification is supported by the fact that in Greek the word Phoenix can mean ‘palm tree’, and so does benu have the alternative meaning of ‘palm tree’ in Egyptian.

Originally, the phoenix was identified by the Egyptians as a stork or heron-like bird called a benu, known from the Book of the Dead and other Egyptian texts as one of the sacred symbols of worship at Heliopolis, closely associated with the rising sun and the Egyptian sun-god Ra.

First, just so the tech team here know... whenever I've gone to open this thread my browser gives me a "suspicious" male-ware warning. Doesn't bother me, but some people might have issues with that

Second... you're picking on my favorite deities out of Egypt (Horus, Isis, Osiris), so :P there. How dare you connect them to that lizard in England! Interesting read though (even though I've only skimmed it ATM) :D
I don't like to think before I speak.
I like to be just as surprised as everyone else by what comes out of my mouth.
