Hitler chic trends growing around the world. 11 May 2014 17:50 #1

I've noticed in the last few years that particularly in the far East, and surprisingly among young girls, that Hitler chic and Memorabilia is becoming all the rage. What is behind this recent trend? Is it just people having fun, or is their an ideological element to this? I find it quite interesting.

Hitler Is Not Dead - Thailand's Youth Embrace Nazi Fashion Trend

"Hitler Chic"

Tourists traveling to Thailand may be shocked to see young Thais walking through the streets of Bangkok and other major cities, wearing T-shirts with the image of Hitler, Swastikas, Nazi slogans and S.S. uniforms, but Thailand is not the only country where this is fashionable. Similar trends have been seen in Japan, Honk Kong and South Korea, and back in 2007, a pro-Hitler group in Taiwan with approximately 1,000 members attempted to gain official status from the Taiwanese government. travelinasia.hubpages.com/hub/Hitler-Fashion-Trend-Thailand#

Der Führer on the Chinese and Japanese -

"Pride in one's own race – and that does not imply contempt for other races – is also a normal and healthy sentiment. I have never regarded the Chinese or the Japanese as being inferior to ourselves. They belong to ancient civilizations, and I admit freely that their past history is superior to our own. They have the right to be proud of their past, just as we have the right to be proud of the civilization to which we belong. Indeed, I believe the more steadfast the Chinese and the Japanese remain in their pride of race, the easier I shall find it to get on with them."

I won't post the original image of Tila Tequila for those who may find it offensive.

She went pro-Hitler in a blog rant, calling it “Why I Sympathize With Adolf Hitler Part 1: True History Revealed.” She wrote, “Here is a man who was not a coward, stood up for his country in a DESPERATE TIME OF NEED (unlike all of our cowardly leaders), and yet not only did he try his best to help his country and people get out of what was a time of depression, economic collapse, high unemployment, amongst many other things …he lost the war AND was painted out to be a monster after his death. This is what breaks my heart. Especially now that I know the truth.”

When it comes to anti-Semitism, the former MTV star commented, “I am not going to sit here and say that I hate Jewish people because that is not the case nor is this about Jews. It is about Hitler and his side of the story that was never told since he was not the victor. However, those of you with a closed mind can think I am being anti-semite all you want because I already told you that I am not, nor will I repeat myself again.”

Tequila also made comments on Paul Walker’s recent death, calling it a “ritualistic murder” and comparing it to the death of Elisa Lam, a young woman who was found dead in Los Angeles in February this year. in2eastafrica.net/tila-tequila-went-pro-nazi-and-called-paul-walkers-death-a-ritualistic-murder/

This is a key component of holocaust denial. The more the truth can be distorted with the dissemination of further propaganda over time the more chance it has of becoming believable.

People who claim to seek the 'truth' and cry out for 'freedom' bizarrely support national socialism as a viable solution to both truth and freedom - a system that was designed around extremely hateful prolonged propaganda & death squads with military expansionism whilst totally disregarding the economy and the welfare of ordinary German people..... yet it was all supposedly for them.
A very mixed up bunch.

The owner of a Nazi-themed cafe in Indonesia has defended his decision to cover the walls with a flag bearing the swastika and a giant picture of Adolf Hitler, saying it has been good for business.

Staff at Soldatenkaffee (Soldier Cafe) located in the West Java provincial capital of Bandung, one of Indonesia’s tourist destination cities, has been open since April 2011.

But a recent article in a local English-language newspaper provoked a backlash from both foreigners and Indonesians on social networking sites.

Authorities in Indonesia plan to ask the restaurant owner to explain his reasons for choosing a Nazi-theme for the cafe.

Ayi Vivananda, deputy mayor of Bandung, said a letter was sent on Thursday summoning cafe owner, Henry Mulyana, to a meeting to ask whether his objective was to incite racial hatred.

“Nazi chic” is a term that describes the use of Nazi imagery, paraphernalia or fashion either for the exhilaration of breaking taboos or for sensational shock value, but not for the express purpose of sympathizing with the ideology of Nazism.

Cosplay is a popular phenomenon in Asia where practitioners dress up as characters from their favorite manga, video games and anime. However, while rare, cosplay in the style of Nazi Germany military personnel has become somewhat prevalent and has been documented as early as 2000.

This recent interest in Nazi cosplay is likely inspired by such Nazi-themed anime and manga like “URDA: The Third Reich” which tells a story about Nazis using time-travel to change the outcome of World War II; “Kekko Kamen“, in which a naked masked superhero fights corruption at a school against such adversaries like an S+M-themed Nazi dominatrix; “The Cockpit“, in which it is a Nazi Germany that wields the world’s first atomic bomb; “Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade“, in which Japan is taken over by Germany at the end of WWII; “Kishin Heidan“, in which aliens invade Earth during WWII and form an alliance with Axis powers; and “Hellsing“, a manga about a Nazi group called “the Millennium” that relocate to Brazil after the end of WWII and become vampires.

Nazi cosplayers often don’t comprehend the historical implications of the uniforms they are wearing. When asked, they would respond with “We’re not racist, we just like the fashion. Really.” Nazi cosplaying occurs in Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea, all places that though were directly involved with World War II didn’t experience the same impact of Nazi culture as the West or haven’t come to appreciate the sensitivity that Westerners may have towards Nazi imagery. Of these three places, it is in Japan that a manga version of Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” has been published.

www.chinasmack.com/2011/pictures/nazi-chic-cosplay-chinese-netizen-reactions.html

In 2005, Britain’s Prince Harry donned a faux Nazi uniform for what the BBC called a “fancy dress party.” The ensuing public and media criticism was so intense the humbled prince was forced to give a public apology.

In the United States and Europe it’s just not a very good idea to don the ornamentation of the Third Reich. Unless you want to send a very specific message, that is: I’m a fascist and antisemitic, and damn proud of it.

But what if you’re country was largely isolated from Hitler’s Germany?

For some in East Asia, Nazi uniforms have become a fashion statement.

One illustration: A young couple recently posted a series of photographs of their Nazi cosplay on popular Chinese web forum Mop (cosplay is short for “costume play”). In one photo, a man dressed in a SS officer's uniform is surrounded by two other soldiers, each holding fake guns. The officer is smiling, and holding a German shepherd on a leash.

“My SS military uniform and bridal veil~Everybody, be nice now,” the post was rather innocently titled. It drew over 1,500 comments.

But obsession with Nazi imagery has been going on for a while now in East Asia.

In 2000, Time magazine profiled the growing trend of Nazi-themed bars in South Korea, which it called “troubling” and an “an unthinking fascination with the icons and imagery of the Third Reich.”

Earlier this year, Asia news site AsiaObscura stumbled across some Korean Nazi cosplayers. Why were they dressed that way? The writer wanted to know. As one of the cosplayers told him: “We’re not racist. We just like the fashion. Really.”

In fact, there’s likely little political meaning to the trend. To put things in perspective: In China, the imperial Japanese flag carries connotations similar to the Nazi Sawstika. But that doesn’t stop Americans from emblazoning the flag on T-shirts, shoes, and other pieces of clothing.

Meanwhile, ChinaSmack has translated some select comments from the thread in the Chinese forum. From this admittedly small sample, it certainly appears Chinese are hardly ignorant of the power of Nazi imagery:

“Really at a loss for words that you would even take these kind of photos out and show them off, aren’t you just looking to be yelled at?” wrote one. “Be careful of being struck by lightning!”

“I really don’t know how to describe this couple,” wrote another. “To say you are mentally retarded doesn’t seem appropriate for your age . . . So, in the end I won’t be describing you both but instead wish for you: That the guy will forever remain a virgin, that the girl also forever remain a virgin, that you will be hit by a car when leaving your house, that you will be electrocuted when you bathe, and that for all of your offspring, the boys will from generation to generation forever be slaves, and the girls will from generation to generation forever be whores.”

Ouch.

The owner of a Nazi-themed café has decided to close it down amid intense pressure from home and abroad. Henry Mulyana, who ran the Soldatenkaffee in the West Java capital, Bandung, met local authorities on Monday, and tourism chiefs suggested he change the name and theme of the café.

City officials were worried the café might incite hate and racism in the town, which is a tourist destination.

Mr Mulyana said he was considering his options, but would not reopen the café, which has Nazi memorabilia and a portrait of Hitler on display

And who are the one's spreading hatred again? Typical reaction from some hypocritical control freak who can't see their own hatred.
