Cycling Injury .. Emergency Room Clowns + Misdiagnosis = Permanent Disability :( 06 Aug 2016 09:41 #1

I fell off of my bike June 13 this year, the doctors said I sustained a simple fracture of the humerus and that it would be better in four weeks .. the pain never diminished, I went back to the same hospital June 27, they did more X Rays and said everything was fine.

The Indian Radiographer rang me at home and said the ER medical staff were clowns, that I had needed emergency surgery fourteen days before, to which end against established protocols he had made an appointment with an Orthopedic Surgeon for the next day.

The Orthopod did the surgery on June 30, he said the entire shoulder joint was shattered and that it was too late to save the joint, since the ball end of the humerus had broken off, that it had no blood supply for seventeen days meant it died .. as well as fixing a metal plate he fixed a metal ball to the humerus.

He told me I will never be able to raise my arm to shoulder level and will not have lateral movement .. now fifty three days on the pain keeps me awake all night.

Ive had a leg injury from football downplayed by a doctor who misdiagnosed, when i was a teen .. it ended my playing.

Id suggest to anyone reading to try get a second opinion if they are in pain and it feels worse than youve been told it is or doesnt subside quickly.

As for the OP well flare might be onto something.
I remember the good old days, when 90+ year olds in nursing homes lived forever. Darn this pesky virus.

Agreed. Not only might that ensure someone else doesn't suffer in the future but the hospital will also be heavily insured for just such an eventuality.

Damn, you'll be setting off metal detectors too now right and having to explain yourself.

Knowing it couldve been fixed earlier with the original joint if the diagnosis wasnt fked up must be a bitter pill to swallow... are you taking anything for the pain?

When the accident occurred June 13, 2016, the same doctors at the hospital who misdiagnosed the injury gave me three tablets and a script for twenty Panadeine Forte pills to take two every six hrs, when they ran out I was to go to a GP and request another script.

www.centralfamilypractice.com.au/Contact_Us.php

Which I did, where after the African doctor I saw, who similarly failed to adequately diagnose the extent of the injury after holding the X Ray up to the light for about one second, prescribed another twenty Panadeine Forte.

At the hospital following surgery I was placed onto a Morphine drip, whereas I was to depress a thumb switch to self administer an intravenous shot when required, by the following day after using it nine times overnight whereas a nurse said many patients use it over a hundred times..

The hospital's pain specialist took it away and put me onto Panadol, which is a non prescription medication that can be bought from the supermarket, in intense pain some time later I begged a doctor and he authorized another shot of Morph.

When that wore off a nurse brought me a single Panadol pill which I refused, before discharging myself from the hospital at about a quarter to twelve Friday night.

The next day a friend brought around some Cannabis Indica called Couchlock in America, which is the most common strain of Medical Marijuana where after a couple puffs you sleep for four hrs, where after waking and having something to eat and drink you repeat the process, thus while it lasted I slept nineteen hrs a day and had no pain.

When the Indica ran out I was able to obtain some Cannabis sativa which probly makes one feel better, but does not remove the pain .. cheers!

ah well youve gotten your hands on a natural pain killer at least, eventually.

I can see they are letting all these foreign doctors in... there is a shortage of domestic doctors in oz.. but its even part of the globalist agenda to decimate private practices (socialism) ... id read a page where they claimed one of the rockefeller brothers (the late nelson iirc) said they were going to implement this in the future.. seems its happening right now in oz with govt built super clinics and importing many doctors to staff them, which directly competes with doctors of a capitalist mindset who set out to build up their own general practices.

Point is, the foreign doctors level of knowledge and training not to mention experience might be below that of what we've been used to in the past? And thats not having a dig at the doctors per se, but what do we know about the training procedures and such abroad? Not much really. No doubt some of the hospitals and clinics are understaffed and very busy also, and want to get people in and out, they'd be under pressures.

All the best in your recovery.

And yes what is panadol going to do really, not much with major pain. Even nurofen seems to work better ive found, but all of it is best avoided if possible.. at least herb is natural... but yes it shouldnt have gotten to this in the first place, there have been failings in the system along the way, and this needs to be addressed so it doesnt happen to more people perhaps, as someone mentioned earlier.

I hope your inability to raise your arm above shoulder level is not permanent.

Maybe alternative approaches besides cannbis could help - like osteopathy or chiropractic.

If they don't help I can vouch for chinese Tui Na (massage). Had a frozen shoulder years ago (not aware of what I did to get there). Chiropractic didnt solve it, so the chiropractor suggested the Tui Na. It took about 6 sessions over 6 weeks and then i could raise my arm up again.

wiki aritcle on Tui Na
