A fly just flew in through my open living room window...After a quick buzz around, It wanted to leave, but for a short while, couldn't find the open window and instead kept flying into the pane of glass next to it. After doing this countless times and with a little help from me, it finally made it's escape.

I then wondered if flies get brain damage? I'm sure that if I ran full pelt into a pane of glass numerous times, that I wouldn't be in any fit state to do much of anything...Hmmm, I wonder if flies get brain damage?

Lets hear your weird and wonderful thoughts?

I wonder if dolphins think of the water surface like we think of the ground, and if they do why don't they swim upside down with their blow holes under their chins rather than on the top of their heads.
I wonder if Arthur Askey lost popularity because he started wearing square glasses.
Looking a aquariums which have under-gravel filters which suck the dirt out of the water, could we set up vacuum cleaners which go under the carpet?
As an anti mugging device could I make a jacket which if punched gave off such a bad smell that my attackers would be forced to run away. And if I was to make this would a skunk logo help sell it or put buyers off.
And back to fish could I make something like a conveyor belt to fit in the bottom of my aquarium with plants and rocks stuck to it so that when it is turned on my fish will think they are in a river. How would I know if they liked it?
I wonder if women would like shoes with hydraulic heals that could go up and down.
If I was to have a tank with flying fish in it could I train them to fly around the room in formation? What sort of thing would they like above the water would it have a perch and a bell and a little mirror like a budgie cage?

@jonb - I've always wondered if birds think of the air in the way we think of water, which could be why they leap out into it without fearing "hitting the bottom", like us when we dive into the sea. :)

I always give bees a helping hand (well I use a covered glass) back out of the window when they fly in and can't find their way back out again, because bees are ace.

And I always help spiders out of the sink or bath when they get stuck in there, because they're ace too.... ;) (dangle a strip of toilet paper over the side for them....they use it as a 'ladder' out).

But flies are the ENEMY....so they just get swatted with a rolled-up newspaper I'm afraid. :D

I love bees, especially bumble bees. :beat:

Spiders, I hate! Outdoors, I leave them alone; indoors I always, always KILL them (even if I could let them out :emb: ).

Flies are filthy. They always get blasted too.

I always try to save moths too, but even so about 20 a night perish in my kitchen drawn by The Light :O Stay Away From The Light... :O

I have a special plastic can with a lid (that once contained organic ice cream :) ) which I always have at hand to catch and release critters in the open.

Two or three days ago I had a huge, weird looking spider in my living room (can't remember that there was a similar one at my place before, although there are legions of spiders here in summer) caught it and droped it outside.
Yesterday a spider which looked exactly the same was close to the place on the wall where I caught the previous one and I wondered, after releasing it into nature, whether they were a couple and might find each other again. Felt a bit like a déjà vu or Groundhog Day ;)

Some years ago I started to "show" flies, bees and similar critters the way back outside through the open balcony door by means of consciousness and pointing at the door. This works increasingly better and faster. I would say 90% successful in no time.

Try it. It's fun and proof at the same time.

This was what I thought at first of course, but I am living on the third floor and release them in the garden below ...........

Spiders in your home eat all the proper nasty insects that live in your carpets etc, the ones that you really don't want.

& spiders are completely harmless to humans, at least in the UK. They go out of their way to avoid you. ;)

I hoover my carpets well, every day. I don't need those ugly busterds in cleaning it for me. The Rentokill Spray awaits any who try...

I sometimes think to myself, when I see one of those particularly large wolf spiders prowling about the room, what would happen to me if I were suddenly somehow shrunk to half an inch tall... :umm: :D

My Grannie had a bad bite from a house spider, so they're not all harmless. :P

I don't mind small spiders and view them as a type of pet. :P When they get big and meaty, I get frightened of them. :emb:

Nope. The child is never, ever in the room at the same time; and I get Ruby-dog out before I spray; then spray, close the door and get out myself - and hoover up the body much later or the next day.
