The bit below is basically our back yard

It's Sankt Han Backar (or Saint Hans Slopes). It used to be Lunds rubbish tip but they covered it and maid this instead. People sledge (even ski) on the slopes in winter

This is a view to the west from the tallest hill (tallest in Lund). You can just make out the bridge that goes between Sweden and Denmark on the horizon to the left

Bit more to the north, same hill

There's an ampitheatre in the middle

snow!

there's a farm too

This is a dry irrigation channel. the whole park is irrigated like a water meadow, so there's lots of different habitats too. they haven't been too pleased with the amount of water though so they're turning a bit of it in to a reservoir to feed the irrigation better

nice ariel view of some of it. the lake in the background is protected for the birds

The place still looks a bit cultivated but I thin they did a good job for a old rubbish tip

OMG!!! I just want to gallop and gallop and gallop all over both places (not of myself, of course, but on a horse's back :D ).

If we had that expensive photo upload thingy, I's show you some of the truly lovely places we have around here (yes, even in built up Warwickshire). Where I walk Ruby-dog every day is so uplifting (known to the Leamingtonians as "The Campion Hills", but today renamed "Newbold Comyn :roll: ). I loooooove that place. I have such history with it - I used to ride ponies all over it as a child; and walked all of my dogs over it.

Now, the golf course managers would try to make us believe there are only 3 walks we can use on in - but too many of us Leamington born folks know too much and walk all over it anyhow. All walks will remain public rights of way until or unless they haven't been used by the public for what Law calls "Time immemorial" (about 40ish years).

But we haven't got that expensive photo upload thingy.... so you'll all just have to take my word for it: it's lovely.

:D

I didn't upload anything Cantata, just stole them off the web with a surreptitious right click 'copy image location' and the pasted in the img link in the reply subject.

They have a stables just outside my work place which also sort of backs on to Sankt Hans. I often see kids getting riding lessons in a long line of horses. It's funny to see the naughty horses and the well behaved ones. There's a black and white one which always falls behind as she tries to eat everything within mouth reach :D

ps Just find some pics on the web :D

I tried to Do it! Do it! Do it! username (find photos of "Newbold Comyn") but there are only sites bragging how good the place is and going on about the golf course, with weedy photos!

I love, hidden places, those which you just stumbble upon or can walk by without ever noticing.

The above is one of these a monument to a gypsy preacher near Walthamstow so easy to find so easy to miss.
Or Walthamstow Village

It is about the last thing you would expect to find a country village in the middle of Victorian working class urban sprawl.

@cantata

:D

@phe

I dunno if you were doing 'copy image location' from google images it doesn't always work, you need to go further in to the web page, specially if it's from flickr or something and get the image in there and copy image location then paste the url in the img link button, the one with with chain on a pic in the reply interface (i saw your wall of text earlier :D).

I'm off to bed, will dream of seeing some spectacular pics maybe tomorrow evening. Night

I did gallop on it. All over it. Nowadays, though, I'd get a golf ball between the eyes if I tried it. But I'll be marching all over it with Ruby-dog again tomorrow!

Not to be outdone *cough cough - as if it would be hard!* I've found this link (click on the photos to enlarge them):

www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=43418431

which, although they call it "Leam Valley", is only the part of The Campion Hills/Newbold Comyn that is not the golf course. I galloped poor little Bouncer all over here too. :D Gawd knows how he ever stayed as fat as he was back then. :beat:

Yay phe. :thumbup: :D

Cantata....the [ img ]pastelinkofpichere [ /img ] method is how I just explained it to phe, but the software won't let me type it out *as is* because it thinks I'm trying to post a pic!

So, although its easy as pie once you know how to do it, its bloody hard to explain on the forum. You basically do what I typed above, with the bracket img bracket thing, but with NO SPACES, if you get me.

& your image must be a jpeg, or a png, or a gif.
