I was thinking of Korfu...

Caribbean, but that's kind of a very long travel time..

Croatia also looks really nice. Never been there tho.

Gro, do you have any tips on Croatia?

Well you should def start with the Lakes of Plitvice . Words can not describe how breathtaking and beautiful the whole experience is . Pics from the internet just wont do justice

Onces your done seeing the lakes there a plenty places where you could enjoy the rest of your vacation . Think of Umag, Porec, Dubrovnik, Krk, Zadar, Hvar, Mjlet , Split

Kinda depends om what your looking for in a vacation and the money your willing to spend

Will post pics later to so you can get an impression of the places mentioned

Sure there's nice coastlines around the Mediterranean. There's also immense numbers of folks who think that too. So unless you spend on the more exclusive resorts which tend to be rammed with wankers instead of chavs (it's only a matter of cash flow) then you need to think different. Look at a map of inland Spain and Portugal. Look for the huge reservoirs, some will still be crowded but you won't get the seaside vibe. With a bit of judicious exploring you can find great beaches but be prepared not to have shops, bars and ice cream vendors everywhere. There's also Bin el Ouadine in the Atlas mountains, have a look. It's not a standard destination and seems to be populated by anglers. Or the Extremadura region in Spain. Inland gives a far different perspective than the coast.
Or the Balkans , Lake Ohrid ,Macedonia.

Soon will start my honeymoon, the largest travel I've done, to the other side of the world.

Awesome locations there.

And then a short 3 weeks in Europe, enjoying summer. Hopefully visiting a new country, there are not so many left for me.

Within Europe holiday locations are plenty, flying is extremely cheap and so many nice places to visit.

The Azores (Portugal) are a great location, Canary Islands, Greece, Cyprus, Sicily must be very nice, Naples/Vesuvius/Pompeii is well recommended, Eastern Europe is affordable and interesting.

I've got a week on the DIF booked for July, and later in the year - November-ish, hopefully - I'm having a week's break on Above Top Secret.

Nope. We don't get the latest gizmos and gadgets in my branch, we have to rely on old-fashioned tradecraft.

Hey, Gaia, why don't you invite Flare to house-sit in the Andes while you are away?

He will surely enjoy the heavily protected edifice / gated community and the beautiful landscape.

And you could stay at his place and meet your old Amsterdam/Rotterdam friends while you are in Europe.

Give me forests and mountainous terrain anyday over seaside. I used to go trekking in Scottish Highlands - walked from Fort William to Dalwhinnie once.

I stayed in this now dangerous hut several times Culra Bothy

oops

However this is a nice spot Ben Alder Cottage

plenty of wood around to acheive this

Thanks for the ideas fellas.

So far I think the Azores is the best idea.

Looks like there's also quite some wave surfing going on there and I'd really would like to have a try at that.

I mean... wtf...

Not expensive at all to go on holidays there I see... + there isn't much tourism there either.

Ffs I'm going there and won't be going back home.

Doesn't this place look like that place where you go after you die..?

This one's even worse...

Have to give creds to Gaia for me finding it after looking for the Azores.

Mostly good advice, I'm sure. However I would avoid Napoli like the plague now. The place now resembles a third World ghetto ( I was there several years ago myself). I'm not joking either. It's mostly dirty, smelly, and now full of African migrants. Visting some parts of south Italy will be a shock to those expecting to see Italy and Italians.. Napoli actually now resembles Nairobi! If you want somewhere nice to go in south Italy then go slightly further South to Sorrento instead.

Never been to the Azores, but I hear it's nice, and the surfing is good. Just make sure you take a few lessons first before attempting to get out there on the waves. It's no fun getting whacked by your own surfboard when getting wiped out. Had a few of those over the years, especially when learning, and believe me, it can ruin the rest of your day on the beach. :hahano: Go for a softer board when learning.

For something different and out of the ordinary you could always try a Sailing Holiday, Flare. :chuckle:
