"The truth must be repeated over and over again,
because error is repeatedly preached among us, not
only by individuals, but by the masses. In periodicals
and cyclopaedias, in schools and universities; every-
where, in fact, error prevails, and is quite easy in the
feeling that it has a decided majority on its side."

To understand who rules over you look to whom you tube can't criticise

The media isn't there to cover the news
It's there to cover the news up

All establishment lies pass through three stages
First, they are accepted as being self evident
Second, they are exposed by diligent research
Third, they are enforced

Road bikes are the thing now. Not keen on the riding position myself though, not great for the lower back either. You want something with a more upright riding position, such as a hybrid. Those racing slicks also slide about easier on a slippery surface. A hybrid with semi-slicks is the way to go for the road imo.

For lightness and comafort a decent road bike with straight rather than drop handlebars for me.
No clippy pedals either, those are a pain and , for me a wider gel saddle is a must.
Hybrids are good but can be heavy down at the economy end.
Road Bike nuts have to buy whatever is new every year and road bikes at the top end depreciate in price faster than new cars. Hence you can pick up a good second hand roadbike for cheap online and fit decent pedals and handlebars for very little.

one summer i cycled 15 miles each way to work - with a mountain bike - was good - especially getting home in the evening and my 2 cats (now hunting mice spirits sadly) would be outside to welcome me.

Same here but not 15 miles each way, my bike commute was about 7 miles each way.
Only ever on sunny days though.
Loved it.
Our campus installed 'hire by the term' lockable bike caddies. 50p a week. Sorta big steel cupboard jobs totally weatherproof so I hired two, one for my bike and one for super cheap storage of garage junk overflow. Faculty could keep their caddy during holidays.
Electeic bike for me nowadays though.
One big advantage is that electric bikes are allowed along the promenade so I can bike from here right by the sea north or south with no traffic to worry about.

I had the benefit of a cycle path too for most of the journey - otherwise I would not have done it - rather fearful of cars meeting bicycles.
