At truth-zone.net we collect different types of information about our users for three main reasons:
(i) To help us to monitor and improve the services we offer.
(ii) To provide personalised services unique to individual users.
(iii) To use anonymous aggregate statistic details about our users and traffic patterns in case we need to sell appropriate advertising space on the site, so that users can continue to use the site free of charge. This might mean showing an advertiser how many users we have on the site; it does not mean sharing an individual's details with an advertiser. Where we collect registration information from an individual, we will never share that individual's information with a third party, including an advertiser, without that user's explicit permission. (Please note, we currently do not have any plans to run the site with ad revenue).
We are absolutely committed to protecting your privacy. Our policy can be summarised in one as follows:
We will not share your information with others without your prior consent.
We have also established the following principles:
(i) We will continue to invest in high-quality security and do our utmost to protect user privacy through the appropriate use of the latest security technology.
(ii) We will respect your email privacy. You will not receive unsolicited marketing mail from truth-zone.net and/or from third parties screened by Truth Zone unless you have agreed to this. We will, however, mail you occasionally with information or queries about your registration, your subscription account or postings, for example, with reminders, warnings or copyright requests.
(iii) We will not pass on any individual user details (including your email address) for third party use unless we have your prior consent. Unless it is with respect to an illegal act.
(iv) We always ensure that contractors we use in connection with the running of the website and services (for example hosting providers) are subject to similar obligations. They are only able to process data on our behalf and in accordance with our principles and instructions and not for any other independent purpose.
(v) Otherwise, we will only share anonymous aggregate statistics about our users and traffic patterns with potential advertisers.
(vi) Our site is accessible via the Internet and so may potentially be accessed by anyone around the world. Other users may access the site from outside the European Union. This means that, where you choose to post your data on the site, this could be accessed from anywhere around the world and therefore a transfer of your data outside of the European Union may be deemed to have occurred. You consent to such transfer of your data for and by way of this purpose.
Throughout our systems we also offer 'User details' pages, where you can update your personal information at any time.
What information do we collect? We collect information on our users as follows: through cookies, through registration and where you choose to disclose data in postings/contributions. For more information about cookies, please see our special page all about cookies and how to use them.
The minimum information we need to register a user is a user name, email address and password in some cases a country plus UK and US users may also need to provide a postcode/zipcode. We may ask further questions for different services.
Unless stated, all registration questions are compulsory. We may also ask some further, voluntary questions so we can gain a clearer understanding of our users. Your responses may help us to sell appropriate advertising space if we need to and so keep the site free. They also enable us to personalise services for our users. We do not share this information with third parties unless you have specifically consented to this.
We use tools to assist in monitoring real time traffic and data activity. This helps us reduce abuse of our systems and protect our users from from spam bots, unauthorised spiders etc. We also use this to help provide the geographic location information on the website pages where shown.
We also collect data listing which of our pages are most frequently visited and by which types of users.
We also attempt to protect your data through server security policies. We also try and protect your data through encryption methods such as when you enter your password at the login. Currently we don't implement any SSL certificates, which means that the general data passing to and from our site is not encrypted.
Our Private Messaging System is private and moderators and admins have no access to them. The content of our PMS system is encrypted, using the highest encryption method provided by the system. This encryption can be breached with a high degree of effort, and should a government body wish to they could require access to such data in a plain text format.
